Shin Nekketsu Kouha - Kunio-tachi no Banka (Japan) (0000 or 1016, clean)
https://www.sendspace.com/file/svqq62

Password 8030. If this works, I'll be stunned.

Mostly been quiet over the last little while since no one has suggested any games I own, but I just bought this one on eBay a little while ago so I can definitely help out with this.

All 0000 preset IDs, all non-headered. Click for screenshots.

Kunio-tachi no Banka original ROM: CRC 0x31BE696C
Kunio-tachi no Banka original ROM + sluffy patch: CRC 0xBA9289EE
Kunio-tachi no Banka original ROM + translation patch: CRC 0x6C4D68C8
Kunio-tachi no Banka original ROM + translation patch + patch: CRC 0xE761884A

Looks to me like sluffy's patch solves the problem on both translated and untranslated ROMs. I can confirm what Bosco said last page. Yahoo! Thanks sluffy. Amazing. It's so amazing how every time you feel like you're stuck on something you have a breakthrough and fix a bunch of other hard cases!

Note to anyone testing: Many of the available translation patched roms are headered -- you want an unheadered rom with sluffy's patch.

Also, the guy in the suit... looks... suspiciously like someone IRL. Can't exactly pin it down. The golden hair, the ill-fitting suit, the big red tie...

For "Uniracers" sluffy last patch :
Uniracers (usa, clean, 0000) - 6c
https://www.sendspace.com/file/15cofk:

Ok, I spent my whole afternoon to open the "hunter" tour :

[... and everything is working fine]

Thank you for running through this. Like I said, I'm not sure I have the skills to get there. Great that sluffy managed to finally put down this beast after so much wrestling. :)

3
Robin's list has Yoshi's Island's preset at 123D. Do you want me to test with 103D or 123D? It's probably about 7-10 minutes worth of progress to get to touch fuzzy * 2 patches + the base rom, so I want to make sure before I start.

That super (cheat mode) racer would destroy me.

Pilotwings (usa, clean, 10ba) -- lesson 8, light plane, password 760357
https://www.sendspace.com/file/8igfgp

Init a2-a7 with non-00 values.

Haven't been following exactly what's going on with Pilotwings, but here's what I'm doing for a test. I am beginning with a US ROM. I will select continue, password 760357 (mission 8). I will select light plane. I will take off, go through the two arches and then land. While in the air, I will press start and see if the engine sounds stop after I unpause.

US Pilotwings, no patch (CRC 0x266C44ED), preset 10BA (BA10 in Hakchi): Sound works, rings don't.
US Pilotwings, with patch (CRC 0xCABC5C84), preset 10BA (BA10 in Hakchi): Sound works, rings work.

So this appears to fix the ring glitch.

question: Does Canoe show mode7 horizon gradient at nighttime on this mission (snes9x says transparency)?

Canoe with no patch (CRC 0x266C44ED), preset 10BA (BA10 in Hakchi):
Screenshot of horizon

Canoe with patch (CRC 0xCABC5C84), present 10BA (BA10 in Hakchi):

If so, try 10ba / 10bd on ActRaiser 2 horizon.

Actraiser 2, 10BA, Slowrom fix only:
Screenshot of horizon

Actraiser 2, 10BA, Slowrom fix + sluffy's patch for world map background:
Screenshot of horizon

Actraiser 2, 10BD, Slowrom fix + sluffy's patch for world map background:
Screenshot of horizon

Actraiser 2, 0000, Slowrom fix + sluffy's patch for world map background:
Screenshot of horizon

It looks to me that the three presets all look the same for the horizon where the map meets the sky and none have the gradient.

Actraiser 2, higan (v106, all filters and settings turned off):
Screenshot of horizon

Actraiser 2, higan (v106, all filters and settings turned off except "color" emulation?):

(Also, higan doesn't have a screenshot function??????? OK?)

No pic needed. Seen it enough to know what you mean. ;)

Uniracers (usa, clean, 0000) - 6c
https://www.sendspace.com/file/15cofk

Try randomly tightening some screws.

The last time I played this much Uniracers, it was 2002 and I was in college. haha.

With patch 6C, I played the first 5 levels of 1P, in each level, fell behind, caught up, got ahead of. In any level with vertical movement tried to get above or below the other unicycle. I then watched the medal ceremony, which looked correct. I did not observe any problems with 1P. Next, I went to the title screen to wait for the demo mode to kick in. I watched three full demos. In the first demo, I watched the top half of the screen. In the second demo, it was 1p, and I watched. In the third demo, it was a 2p demo, and I watched the bottom screen. I did not notice any sprite weirdness. Next, I started a 2P run. I ran off the screen left and right with P1, and then off the screen left and right with P2. I completed the race as P1, winning, and the grey filter appeared over the top half of the screen as the flag waved. Next, I started a new race and won as P2, noticing that the grey filter went over the bottom half of the screen. I did not observe any problems with 2P.

I can't confirm that there are no remaining problems, but I can confirm that I checked for everything previously reported and there were no issues at all. From my perspective, this is fixed pending any subsequent reports. It would be nice if someone with better skills could try the final tour to see if the effects from the anti-uni powers work, but besides that, I don't see very many avenues for stuff going wrong.

6
Ah right, I forgot about the top down view.

FormerTree, did you check the Act Raiser 2 map to see if it was fine too?

Yes, the top down view is fixed; for the top down view it was just the colour that was off, so sluffy's hack to set the BG colour works fine. The only issue with the current patch is going to be the slight gradient where the horizon meets the water in the dialogue view.

7
Ah, you're right that there's a subtle gradient. Still a big improvement because it doesn't have the ugly grey space everywhere, but you're right that it doesn't have that nice horizon glow. Doesn't look like the preset fixes it either.

ActRaiser 2 (usa, 0000, clean) -- mode7 map
https://www.sendspace.com/file/hw9bk3

Changed default bg1 color to ocean blue intensity. Some chance could work. Noticed it's just backdrop color and not mode7 texture tile.

This works, but please be aware that just using this patch is not sufficient to get the game to run. You must use the original IPS patch used to make Actraiser 2 run, then this patch.

To be extra clear:
Original Actraiser 2 ROM (no patches): 0x4901F718 -- Does not boot (hangs after Enix logo)
Actraiser 2 + Initial patch (which was for SlowROM?): 0x22A37A98 -- Boots, but displays discolouration
Actraiser 2 + Sluffy background patch: 0x10F9E0D2 -- Does not boot (hangs after Enix logo)
Actraiser 2 + Initial Patch + Sluffy background patch: 0x7B5B6D52 -- Works perfectly

So it will probably be useful to make a combination patch to ensure that one patch will work for everyone.

Screenshot for proof:

Click for PNG to avoid the weird JPG artifacting the downsized version has
(The overhead view also works, I tested both)

Link to original Canoe patch:

I am not totally sure how you combine two IPS patches, so I'll leave it to someone more experienced than I am.

Thank you very much sluffy. This is one of the last two games I have issues in (the other is Pilotwings)! I'll have to start buying more SNES carts to help test haha.

Uniracers (0000 pid, usa, clean) --- try using canoe's bug against itself (2P)
https://www.sendspace.com/file/3jyrhe

Thanks again for trying. I'll keep testing patches if you keep making them.

uni3.ips -> US ROM w/ patch CRC 0x94bfb8c6

No fixes for 2P, broke 1P. Click links for screenshots:
1P: Flying unicycle when not on same screen
2P, same screen: No unicycles on bottom
2P, different screen: Flying unicycle on bottom

11
Uniracers = uh oh. If Canoe blocks / glitches access to oam during drawing, 2p is kinda toast atm. Unknown buggy behavior. Savestates weren't used?

No save states. In each test, booted game -> 1P -> select character and courses -> play -> reboot -> 2P -> etc. -> reboot -> VS -> etc. -> reboot -> wait for demo.

12
Waited long time to get Uniracers (USA, clean, 0000 pid) off my board.
https://www.sendspace.com/file/rz8g6y
https://www.sendspace.com/file/s2k1e3

Don't know which will work. Guessing #1.

2P should show 4 racers at start (two top/bottom). Once goes out-of-bounds, then you should only see 2. Should behave like a normal racing game.

2A (CRC 0xD8BEF0E4):
- 1P works fine
- 2P, VS, and Demo Recordings do not. If the two players are on the same screen, the both unicycles are invisible in the bottom half. If the two players are NOT on the same screen, the lower half has two floating unicycles and some garbage graphics.

Screenshots:
Both unicycles on same screen
Both unicycles on different screens

2B (CRC 0xCF3252CE):
- 1P works fine
- 2P, VS, and Demo Recordings do not. If the two players are on the same screen, then both unicycles are invisible in the bottom half. if the two players are NOT on the same screen, the lower half has one floating unicycle.

Uniracers -- debug testers (0000 pid, USA, clean rom)
https://www.sendspace.com/file/ax0uds
https://www.sendspace.com/file/7x1mbe

Start a game. Don't move. Wait for sticky cpu. Now press select. Keep doing this until both racers disappear. Count how many clicks it takes.

First, let's verify that we have clean ROMs:
USA ROM CRC 0x383858C7
USA ROM w/ debug1 Patch CRC 0xB9D1E376
USA ROM w/ debug1A Patch CRC 0x5801A2EA

Entering race:
1P -> Mike -> Crawler -> Dragster -> Race.

debug1:
25 (twenty five) times makes both racers disappear

debug1a:
25 (twenty five) times makes both racers disappear

Tested five times on each patch, 25 each time.

Thanks again for all your hard work sluffy, really appreciate it.

American Tail (USA, 0000 pid, clean rom)
https://www.sendspace.com/file/9idr2c
- wait nmi, then start irq. Canoe likely treats "illegal" irq values as 0. Or doesn't like cli before nmi,irq are first set.

Original ROM CRC: 0x7448D45C
CRC with patch: 0x60B15FDE

Played to the 2-1 level and everything was perfect. Definitely fixed.

Great job sluffy, another three off the list. Haven't been around for a week or so but great to see the work continue. Awesome job, man!

Here's a fix for Super 3D Noah's Ark

http://www.filefactory.com/file/q3r92hxhq6p/Super%203D%20Noah%5C%27s%20Ark%20%28USA%29%20%28Unl%29%20%28Fixed%29.zip

I don't own a copy of the game to be able to test, but this patch appears to simply write the text SUPER 3D NOAH'S ARK to the rom; that's sufficient to fix the ROM? What was the actual error?

16
All roms I use for testing are from the latest updated snes no-intro set (2017-05-29) which can be downloaded from archive.org
If I want to be 100 % sure that a US-rom is a correct no-intro rom I always download it from the vault (vimm's lair). I hope you Sluffy and everyone else here are using correct roms when testing.

Can anyone else confirm that "American Tail, An: Fievel Goes West" displays a "nintendo presents" text before going in to "black-screen-mode"? Of course I used a proper no-intro rom.

American Tail rom INFO:

I am at work, but my previous post indicates I used the 0xEEA38AED rom and got a black screen with no "Nintendo Presents". This was with the unmodified ROM, the 1st and 2nd testers (3rd tester still haven't checked), and a US SNES Classic with 2.0.7 kernel:

Downloaded testers.

Unpatched (CRC32 0xEEA38AED): Black screen
Tester 1 (CRC32 0xB028EB2B): Black screen
Tester 2 (CRC32 0xFE9455CC): Black screen

Sorry none worked, but there were no C7 crashes this time.

17
For me, the vanilla An American Tail ROM did not boot at all. I will check patch tester 3 when I get home to see if it gets to the Nintendo text for me.

18
Curiously read in doc that Mystic Ark breaks in Chapter 5. Very far into the game. If American Tail (no-intro) does indeed boot black screen with no C7, then it gives a clue on what could trigger it. But this is unverified.

I lazily wrote Fievel v-irq to line 511 which will never happen. And maybe triggers an assert crash (C7) - way out-of-bounds. I know this game locks up in 1.51 (and only this one it seems).

May throw out another tester to further explore this path. But I'll take whatever testers want to run. Too many games anyway and I'm restricted to PC. So my interest is never higher than max medium level. ;)

I don't own any of the remaining games so I can't test, but I thought it might help to quickly summarize which games have been tested and which haven't:

Confirmed Fixed: Aliens 3, Cacoma Knight, Speedy Gonzales, Beavis and Butthead, Super Off Road, Dragon Ball Z Super Butoden 2, F-1 Grand Prix, SOS Sink or Swim, Mario's Time Machine, Hunt for Red October, Tom and Jerry, Super Ninja Boy, Illusion of Gaia, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Fighting Edition, Star Trek Deep Space Nine, Krusty's Super Fun House, Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, Marvel Super Heroes USA, Tiny Toon Adventures Wacky Sports Challenge, Speed Racer USA, Rock n Roll Racing

Patches tested, but didn't work (didn't fix problem) according to tester: Uniracers (I posted that the enemy sprite wrap thing still happens)), Ys 3 (Robin64 reports did not work on Feb 18th), Daffy Duck (etiel reports 2nd patch does not fix), An American Tail (etiel reports immediate crash), Cool World (Robin64 had followup video with error still present)

No feedback to sluffy's last post with patch: WWF Wrestlemania The Arcade Game, Super Play Action Football, Super Battleship

I think that's everything where at least one patch tester has been posted.

20
Studied Tetris Attack (Mode 2 - OPT) and this should work for Wacky Sports (same). Use offset 0, then add x-y table.
https://www.sendspace.com/file/ypmu1i

Tested Tiny Toon Adventures - Wacky Sports Challenge... both weightlifting and woodcutting, and everything is working perfectly. Thanks again! Wow!

Example Screenshot:

For anyone keeping track, I applied patch "wacky_sports_usa.ips" to clean US rom (CRC32 0xAFE72FF0), resulting patched ROM is CRC32 0xF96DDB49 and I can confirm the two sports with visual corruption now work properly. See my previous posts in thread for what they looked like before.

Uniracers: shifty test here too. Want to know if oam subscreen is playing tricks.
https://www.sendspace.com/file/jorvm1

This one still not working. Screenshot from 1P. The dark shading is because I pressed pause to take the screenshot - same as before, when the enemy bike gets off screen it wraps around and sort of floats in the middle.
