Welp, this year's been a bit busy and I see I have quite a few questions to answer.

Is there anyway to get the Mega Man X Relocalization patch to work with the SA1 patch?

https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/5145/

Yes, it does work with it.  I forget if you have to patch the SA-1 hack first or not though.  Either do the SA-1 patch then the relocalization or the relocalization then the SA-1, but I think it's the first one.

Can you create at least the logo patches for the EUR versions?

I'm just making sure nobody is left out.

DarkSamus993 was the person who did inserted the custom logos created by Metalwario64, so you'd have to ask them.

Really a nice Project, I wanted to ask if there is a way to add a "Warning" sign before a boss battle, like the rest of the games.

Probably something like the Mega Man Zero one:

https://youtu.be/aGbru76Hddg

And adding the X1 Warning sound that is showed in the intro:

https://youtu.be/f-rJMKeUSIc (0:45)

No, this was a simply a project to make a more accurate translation of the original three X titles in a means that doesn't increase their ROM size so they can be patched into the Mega Man X Legacy Collection

So, is there still any plans for a version of this addendum for MMX3 - Zero Project?

If I have the time to do so, sure.  Alternatively, if someone else wanted to take up the mantle I wouldn't be against it.  If anyone is interested this is the script I based my X3 translation on: https://pastebin.com/EdjH4Ppy

Is it compatible with the MSU-1 hacks?

Yes, I primarily play the X trilogy this way actually lmfao.

Someone using this mod had a bit of an issue with one of the scenes in Mega Man ZX Advent.

Also, I've been curating a guide of sorts that also has an archive of mods, would it be alright if I added these remastered textures to that?  Proper credit would be given of course.

It just depends on how easy it is to modify the text in that version.

That is SUPER awesome, Naldrag. Thanks!

No problem!  If there's any weird issues with those patches just lemme know and I'll look into them but... I did a quick test and everything should be fine since the only weird issue would involve most likely be string order, and that would be fairly noticeable from the get go.

Hey Naldrag, will there be compatibility in the future for the non-Rev 1 MMX rom version? (it does work, but with show-stopping glitches). I ask this because the new SA1 patch is sadly not compatible with the Rev 1 version (don't know for sure why they didn't use Rev 1). If it won't happen, it's fine.

Actually funny enough, I had to make a separate build compatible with 1.0, since that's apparently what the Mega Man X Legacy Collection version of the ROM runs, so I guess I could just release an update with 1.0 compatible patches available.  I wasn't actually entirely sure that was the case until I decided to check where the string data and everything was and aside from the tweaks made to remove mention of Nintendo, it seems identical.  Anyway here's the update patches:

I haven't gotten a chance to read the whole thread yet, but this is awesome. I appreciate you using my translations, because my endgoal was always to get them into the games proper - I just didn't really have the technical knowhow to do so, for the most part. I was able to get Final Weapon (my X4 pack) done with the help of Ace and DarkSamus, but I always saw the SFC games as being out of reach.

Oh yea, I thought they were pretty good scripts that should be used to some capacity.  There were some alterations I had to do with some of them due to the string limitations.  For the X1 Retranslation and X2-3 Addendums, anything I could try to fit or rework to a satisfying degree I went with, but yea they're overall pretty good scripts and I think bring out the narrative a lot better than Capcom's official localizations.  I appreciate the work you put into them trying to make them flow better as an English localization.

Hmm... this looks interesting, but yea I have to agree that you shouldn't be asking for donations, especially if you're including other people's mods as apart of it.

Patches have been updated again, with a few more script changes now... most notably in Mega Man X2 which uses more of NectarHime's retranslation script now.  Also, I just noticed the "Rockman" patch for X1 is considerably bigger than the rest of the patches for X1, so I'm not sure what's with that, but I'm going to look into it later and if there's some weird issue there, X1 will probably get a slight update to reflect that.  For the most part though, I'm feeling fairly satisfied with how these turned out so "ideally" these will be the final versions of the patches for now.  If there are any typoes or weird bugs for whatever reason make sure to leave a comment here and I'll make sure to fix it.  Aside from that, I'll be trying to crank out a more appealing version of the patcher for the MMX Legacy Collection sometime in the near future.

Mega Man X Legacy Collection Relocalization Patcher (v1.7): https://drive.google.com/open?id=1L09941zEgwukhv1vu4Y28vNlLnw5DXJA

Update: There was in fact something off with the "Rockman" patch for Mega Man X, so I updated it to address the issue, the patch is now considerably smaller as a result.  This update has also been reflected in the Mega Man X Legacy Collection Relocalization Patcher.

that stinks so if i want the achievements i'm stuck with playing on steam

I mean the slowdown is the same as if you were playing it on actual SNES hardware... so I'm not really sure what the big deal is.

so you can't remove it on steam?

No.  I really only made the Steam version viable for those who are really sticklers about the legitimacy of emulation.  Among it being faithful with the SNES slowdown, Mega Man X1-3 suffers from input latency... while it's not as bad as the console versions I don't think it's still noticible.  For an ideal experience your best bet is probably playing it in SNES9X or bsnes/higan.  The PC versions of X1-3 on the collection are very much still emulated, rather than being properly ported over like X4-8.

is there a way for you to fix the too many sprites on screen slowdown?

That's not really in my area of expertise, these hacks were just practice for me to get better at changing text / potential translations... even then I'm not sure you can fix that since that's a limitation of the Super Nintendo, I'm sure you can maybe find an emulator or something that allows you to play without the slowdown, or something?

Well, it took a couple days longer than I wanted to... but the Mega Man X3 Relocalization Addendum is ready for release.  Along with that a patcher for the Mega Man X Legacy Collection has been made, allowing these hacks to be compatible with said collection. First post has been updated to note all the features currently finished for this project and what there's left to do...

UPDATE: Patches have been updated further to include the Japanese boss names for the "Irregular" version.  Additional typoes here and there have been fixed and there is also now a separate "Rockman" version that implements the Rockman branding.  The boss names and Rockman X logos were implemented thanks to the help of DarkSamus993, and without further ado...

...and with that done now I can get back to working on something else for the Mega Man X Legacy Collection...

Great. Though when I tried to run the re-localized X1 with the Capsule Remix hack, the game kinda crashed (fortunately, I made a copy to test it before I patched it). Kinda weird, though.

I can look into making a version that's compatible with the Capsule Remix from the get go.

Is there any chance of making a version for Project Zero?

It's in the cards, but it's not something I'm immediately going to tackle after I finish Mega Man X3, as I've been working on some stuff regarding Mega Man X4 in the Mega Man X Legacy Collection.  Speaking of which... there is something I need to look into that might make that mod better in the long run.

Both the scripts I'm referencing (NectarHime's and Hondoori's) use the phrase "pain in the ass", and I mean with the X series being meant to be "edgier" Mega Man, I feel like a few instances of swearing isn't too bad.  Her-Saki's Rockman X translation and Thirteen 1335's X2 relocalizations have also had slight swearing in them.  It's definitely nothing that's going to surpass the series current "T" standing anyway.  That said, the series has had multiple instances of mild swearing in the past and still got the "E" slapped on it.  Mega Man 7, Mega Man X (specifically the GC/PS2 version), and Mega Man X3 all have usage of "damn".  Mega Man X4 had multiple instances of "damn" and there's also the infamous Double scene... and then there's the infamous Mega Man Battle Network 2 translation, which had sex jokes, several instances of swearing, and is still to this day rated "E".  I don't really plan on going too much farther than that in terms of language though.

That's cool, though it looks like from when I tried it, it still needs some work. At least in my opinion.

I'm having to make some personal changes for my addendum of it, so perhaps you'll find it more suiting.  Also, Solid One took advantage of the extended script from the Zero Project so it wasn't actually compatible for editing, I'm keeping in what works/fits in the base ROM and if there's something I feel needs changing I've been taking personal liberties with, primarily going off NectarHime's script but also taking notes from Hondoori's translation like pretty much all of these have done.

Also, had to make Vile/VAVA be edgy, because I feel that's the law also a certain phrase is in the literal translation and it was too good not to pass up. :V

Honestly, if you're going to change "Violen" to the proper French spelling, "Violent," then what's the point of retaining "Serges" when the proper French spelling is "Sagesse?"

Because there's two versions of the patch, one with the English terminology and one with the Japanese terminology and it'd be a consideration for the "Irregular" version, that said I don't know if I'm going to bother since it's still "Baioren"/"Violen" in Japanese while in the case of Serges it's "Sāgesu"/"Sageese".  The only thing I haven't really bothered with so far with the "Irregular" patch is renaming the eight bosses for each game because when I tried for X1, it resulted in the game crashing.

Maybe instead of "Halt" it could be "Stop, X" or "Wait, X"?

I'm planning on giving your addendum patch a playthrough later today, I'll check that out!
"Wait, X!" sounds the most natural to me, but I haven't yet played it to know what the following line is.

I think I'm gonna stick with "Wait, X!" overall I feel like I want to add a sense of slight overconfidence on Zero's part since I feel that's probably what the original intention was, shame there's not as much text room to get that across.

Nice. The Relocalizing of the original trilogy will be something for me to try.

Solid One's relocalization patch for X3 should be out on the site soon if you want to check that out since there's still some things I have to work with as far as porting that script over and doing some personal touches and what not.

Playing through X2 relocalization addendum, and so far so good. I did find one typo though. When you collect all of Zero's parts, Dr. Cain's line should be "some time" instead of "sometime".

EDIT: Finished my playthrough. When Zero appears to save you in X-Hunter Stage 5, "Sorry I have kept you waiting" would sound better as "Sorry to keep you waiting".

Otherwise, good stuff here!

Went ahead and fixed the "sometime" typo and I'll probably change that last line too.  Tempted go with NectarHime's translation of the scene which has "Kept you waiting, huh?"  :X

Also, you might want to go to Thirteen 1355's X2 reclocalization thread and suggest that since "Sorry I have kept you waiting" is in their relocalizaiton. but either way I'll fix that up to sound better.
