wait, the hex editor shows some RIFF WAVEfmt strings... mmm must be wav files stitched together, where did i get the Ogg thing? anyway they have a small header with names like damage.wav or whatever.wav so i better check them out...

DONE! files VO_P00.SEZ and VO_P01.SEZ were the culprits, mmm they stand for VOices and player 00 = X and P01 = Zero

finally some peace and quiet...

damn i have to focus myself, the SEZ files are just wavs one after another, with a small header that has the filenames...

i have been searching the web for info about how to play the sound effects in this game, i know they are encoded in Ogg but none of the "regular" players work, the goal is to edit or remove the annoing sounds X and zero make every **king time you jump, attack , fart, whatever, i`m sick and tired of hearing  ha ha oh oh ha ha all the time...

since you don`t even specify what kind of ROM you are talking about, my short answer is No, you can`t

a week or so ago i tried to comment on this hack

i was pointing out a bug, the games crashes if you have the shield and then lose all the armor upgrades back to underwear, my guess is that the game never expects arthur to be in underwear and have the shield active at the same time so i wanted to give some feedback but mu comment wasn`t aproved, what did i do wrong this time?

if you can find the pattern of the files inside the mk*.bin maybe you can extract them, just hope they didn`t encrypt of changed the files in a way that screws up the regular MAME driver...

wow, you have a lot of question, maybe going full hex wasn`t the best way to go for a noob hacker...

The original, unmodified Megaman never has objects on top of the ladders... so it`s not a bug in the original games, anyway, how could you fix such situation? Megaman can not exists in the same space than other objects (more so if it was a real thing)

Also you must strip the iNES header... and split the PRG and CHR data...

Ben, you don't touch the flag pole inside a castle, which is necessary to score the remaining time. Use a hex-editor to find out the value that makes a flag-pole object, then try to figure out how to edit the "Toad" object so that it acts like a flag-pole.

that would be the "Axe" that Mario has to touch to send Bowser to the lava...

since it was a quick code, i ran out of space and only 3 weapons can be selected

Hold Select, then press Left for Laser, Down for Spread and Right for Fire...

the machine gun is so lame that i don`t know if must include it or not... anyway, if theres space left after the code has been optimized, i`ll add it...

WTF? pressing select with no direction actually SWITCHES TO THE MACHINE GUN! wow, i didn`t expect that...

ok i got it, i left the code to switch to the Machine gun, but since no direction is pressed, no branches are taken and the "switch to M gun" routine is executed by default...


the game comes ROMs, you must tear apart this data and make an ISO out of that, the turn the code upside down in order to make it work on the DC... the Atomiswave is based on the Dreamcast, not the NAOMI, and yes there are some diferences that makes porting games NOt a trivial task...

i imagine that Probotector was made modifing an NTSC image, so when the emulator runs the PAL version at its original frecuency it plays identical to NTSC...

Ok, we figured out, in a slighty diferent way but we got it.

So Contra (j) is not compressed? AFAIK it has more content than the US version for some reason... isn`t there a translation hack available? if so maybe i should have tinker with that version instead...

Actually i was thinking about what feature i can add here...

I have been having these crazy ideas ever since February when the AVGN dug up the Friday the 13th cartdridge and a bolt of lighting brought it back to life

- make Jason move slower so the jason alarm hapens less often (in my hack the alarm is infinite)

- change the kids mechanics: the counselors must look for the children inside the cabins and take them to the large cabin by the lake and be rewared with some weapon or health when all 15 have been found and taken to safety...

- since game is split in 3 days make Jason in the first day wear the potato sack, the hockey mask in the second day and maskless in the 3rd day

- if a counselor dies while fighting Jason inside a cabin, you can retrieve whatever weapon he was using by entering the cabin and taking it from its corpse.

- a cool one but maybe not so easy to do: whenever a counselor dies outside the cabins it turns into a zombie that take more hits to kill than regular zombies and when defeated, drops the weapon he/she had when Jason killed him/her

i have more but i can`t remember them all right now

as a great fan of the Friday the 13th franchise, i really want this game to be good...

I didn't look into Super C at all

don`t worry i found it: offset C02F same thing, change 85 to 60 (ret)

the code is VERY similar except for a few addresses so i found it with just a few clicks...
