Can we get a easy/fair nerf to old NES games like the Ninja Gaiden Trilogy, Battletoads, Ghosts 'n Goblins, etc.
Many of these games are only notoriously difficult because of hardware limitations or poor/sadistic design choices. Would be nice to be able to beat these games without resorting to using cheat codes or abusing save states.

Most players should be able to beat these games using just skill & reflexes & not be hindered by bad luck/RNG or cheap BS like enemy respawning.

You don't have to cheat to get to the duped Maze Island if you're playing a randomized run & activated the option to walk on ANY water tile with the boots. You just go down to death mountain & once you're in contact with it's east coast, just keep walking east to find the island.

That's assuming if this patch is compatible with the Z2 Randomizer.

Is this compatible with Zelda 1 Redux hack?

So I downloaded the 3.0 release & was going through the optional patches.

What does 'Secret' do? I'm not going to apply a patch without knowing what it does first.
Not all changes are welcome. If it makes the game harder in anyway I don't want it. You should never hide what a patch does.

I have an idea for Ninja Gaiden. Make a 'Fair Hack' that does the following;
  • Stop the respawning of enemies. When you kill an enemy, it should stay dead
  • If you die at any of the final bosses, you should only have to redo 6-3, not the entire act!
  • Add the Visible Item Holder feature from Ninja Gaiden 3, where you could see the contents of each item holder instead of having to memorize them (for those of us with bad short-term memory)
  • Nerf Bloody Malth's fireballs to be a bit slower (so they're avoidable) and fly in a straight line instead of semi-homing
  • Fix Ryu's jumping backward momentum
  • Limit the total number of enemies that can be on-screen to 3 or 4 max (also prevents slowdown/lag)
This would make Ninja Gaiden more fair, as some players still haven't beaten this game either at all or without cheating. The only real reason this game is so notoriously hard is because of limitations & bad programming & should be fixed.

I'm having trouble getting v3.1 (Base Mod) to work on the BSNES. Does anyone know what causes it & how to fix it?

what emulator are you using, Animebryan?

the saves for MMX3 Zero Project 4.0 do work in the latest version of snes9x emulator.
I'm not sure about bsnes or higan

The save file system is useless! Whenever I switch to a different game in the emulator or close the emulator & restart, the saves are gone! In fact, I never saw a save file being generated from the game. Do you plan on fixing it at some point?

That's good to hear! I was worried you'd give up on it. It would be nice to see proper dialogue & spell names with this remake, even though I'm also working on a RPG Maker remake of this game myself.

Can you catch'em all in this game? Can you fill the ENTIRE pokedex in one playthough or without cheating?
