Newcomer's Board / Need help with ZeldaTech
« on: June 02, 2015, 07:32:36 pm »
I'm working on a Zelda hack using Zelda Tech and I'm having trouble getting the warp cave system to work.  I have 4 screens chosen.  On each screen I have chosen the Warp Cave in the Cave/Stair Options with both Quests checkmarked.  When I enter one it takes me to the Warp Cave, but the game freezes when Link touches a staircase on that screen.  What am I doing wrong?

Newcomer's Board / Need a little help on hacking NES Golf & Mega Man 2
« on: October 17, 2014, 03:50:55 pm »
I'm currently working on some Christmas themed hacks, but I've ran into a couple of roadblocks and need some help.

First, the Nintendo release of Golf for the NES.  For the most part, I've learned how to find and change the palettes in NES games as you can see in my previous hacks (like Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle Update), but editing the palette in Golf is giving me some problems.  The hack I'm working on is essentially Santa Claus playing golf at the North Pole.  I've found and been able to change to the Golfer's palette so I can edit him to look like St. Nick in his traditional outfit, so no issues there.  However, I'm having a hard time finding the location of where the palette for the green grass is located.  Most palettes use the same color as its transparent color (including the Golfer) and I've changed each palette I've found into white in attempt to change the grass into snow, but nothing works as each time I reload the rom with the changes, the grass remains green no matter what palette I change.  I've been able to change the color of the trees to make them look snow covered, and been able to change the bunker color to make the sand look colder, but the normal grass is escaping me.  Could anyone help me in finding where the palette for the grass is located?  Thanks.

Second, I need help in locating the damage data of the bosses in Mega Man 2.  I really don't know where to or how to start finding where within the rom each boss damage tables are located.  In other words, I want to change how much damage each weapon does to each boss in order to make each hack I make of Mega Man 2 have a different weakness order in order to make each new hack a new experience.  Data Crystal has the data for Mega Man 4, but I wish I could find this data for both Mega Man 2 and Mega Man 3 as they are top favorite games and have lots of ideas of hacks for both games.  Any help or advice is appreciated.

Newcomer's Board / DOS Programs Question
« on: January 23, 2014, 01:23:18 am »
There are several level editors available for DOS that intrigue me, but unfortunately, only a handful of them have a Windows  version available.  Is there any way to run any of the DOS programs on Windows 7?  Thanks.

I want to translations of some games into Pig Latin.  My question is: would this be considered as an actual translation fit for the translations section or would this be considered as a spoof romhack?

If these would be considered true translations, the next issue is there is no Pig Latin option.

Newcomer's Board / Problems with Saving changes I made in the Hex Editor
« on: November 27, 2013, 03:11:05 pm »
I found a ROM map with the Robot Master Weaknesses/Weapon Energy usage for Mega Man 4.  Using the data I found, I edited the ROM on fceux's Hex Editor.  I made the changes under the ROM file and clicked Save Rom under the Edit Menu.  Unfortunately, whenever I reloaded the ROM file, expecting the changes to have been kept, I found that the changes I made were not saved and all of the Robot Masters' weaknesses were reverted back to their originals.  What am I doing wrong?  Is there a better Hex Editor available?  Thanks.

I was editing/play testing the changes I made to the Ice Man and had moved the icon signifying where Mega Man teleports into at the halfway poijy.  Now everytime Mega Man respawns there he doesn't teleport in correctly and allow me to play, instead he's constantly in the teleportation state and continuely loops from the top of the screen to the bottom.  How do I fix this problem?  Thanks.
