I'm currently working on some Christmas themed hacks, but I've ran into a couple of roadblocks and need some help.
First, the Nintendo release of Golf for the NES. For the most part, I've learned how to find and change the palettes in NES games as you can see in my previous hacks (like Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle Update), but editing the palette in Golf is giving me some problems. The hack I'm working on is essentially Santa Claus playing golf at the North Pole. I've found and been able to change to the Golfer's palette so I can edit him to look like St. Nick in his traditional outfit, so no issues there. However, I'm having a hard time finding the location of where the palette for the green grass is located. Most palettes use the same color as its transparent color (including the Golfer) and I've changed each palette I've found into white in attempt to change the grass into snow, but nothing works as each time I reload the rom with the changes, the grass remains green no matter what palette I change. I've been able to change the color of the trees to make them look snow covered, and been able to change the bunker color to make the sand look colder, but the normal grass is escaping me. Could anyone help me in finding where the palette for the grass is located? Thanks.
Second, I need help in locating the damage data of the bosses in Mega Man 2. I really don't know where to or how to start finding where within the rom each boss damage tables are located. In other words, I want to change how much damage each weapon does to each boss in order to make each hack I make of Mega Man 2 have a different weakness order in order to make each new hack a new experience. Data Crystal has the data for Mega Man 4, but I wish I could find this data for both Mega Man 2 and Mega Man 3 as they are top favorite games and have lots of ideas of hacks for both games. Any help or advice is appreciated.
