Programming / Need help on figuring out on how to decompress a PSX BIN file
« on: February 09, 2021, 08:34:42 am »
Hi everyone,

I need help on figuring out on how to decompress a PSX BIN file.

I want to do a ROM hack for Fire Pro Wrestling G, but the info that I want to edit in the BIN file is compressed.

What program do I need to use that will not only decompress it, but also re-compress it as well.

If someone can help me on this, that would be great.

Hi everyone,

I just released a hack for Final Fight 2 that does some minor improvements for it, you can check it out here: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/5464/

I want to further my improvement hack by getting both international versions decensored, but I need help on that, because I don't have the skills to restore the content.

That's why I'm looking for a SNES hacking expert that can help me on restoring this stuff back to those versions:

Restore the blood.
Restore Mary & Eliza.
Restore Won Won's cleaver.
Restore Freddie's death scream from the Japanese version.
Restore the original background graphics for stages one, two and five. You can learn more about it here: http://rq87.flyingomelette.com/FF/F/2/reg.html

Including one user requested for the ability to see the ending on any difficulty, so I'll need help on that as well.

If someone can help me on this, that would be great.

Hi everyone,

I need help on inserting these graphics to my Final Fight One hack, including fix a bug as well.

You can check out my hack here: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/3495/

Here's what I need help on:

I want to replace Rolento's sprites with the ones from Final Fight 2, the custom sprites were made by PrimeOP:

The reason why he has only three walking frames and one jump kick frame is because I want to change their behavior to be more like their FF2 counterparts and also replicate the SNES limitations that the other characters in this game have as well.

So I need someone to change them to be more like how they behaved in FF2.

I also want to replace Jessica's sprites that are used in the intro for stage 1 with these, they were made by kensuyjin33:

Including find a way to get Damnd to hold her, instead of her sitting on top of his arm as well.

I also want to replace the Japanese font that appears underneath the title screen logo with this, it was made by kensuyjin33:

I also need help on fixing this bug that appears underneath Alpha Cody's portrait when you select him, I circled the location of it:

I recently discovered that the Game Clear BGM is in this port, but hidden. I would like that to be played after you defeat Belger instead of the Round Clear music.

According to the Zophar Music website, the track number for it is 99: https://www.zophar.net/music/gameboy-advance-gsf/final-fight-one

That's why I'm looking for a GBA hacking expert that can insert the new sprites, change the behavior of those frames, have Damnd holding Jessica, fix the bug and restore the unused music track.

If someone can help me on all of this, that will be great.

Help Wanted Ads / [Technical] [NES] Little Samson Restoration
« on: October 07, 2020, 04:05:08 am »
Hi everyone,

I recently released a hack for Little Samson that restores content that got censored in the American version back to their original Japanese sprites.

You can check it out here: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/5413/

I discovered that there's a griffin statue that is used in the wizard stage, but it doesn't appear because the palette for it is messed up, I found this out thanks to TCRF: https://tcrf.net/Little_Samson#Griffin_Statue

That's why I'm looking for a NES hacking expert that can fix the palette, so the statue can appear.

If someone can help me on this, that will be great.

Hi everyone,

I need help on fixing this bug in my Lightening Force to Thunder Force IV hack this one user reported me about, you can check out my hack here: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/3621/

According to the user, there’s a soft-lock bug in the "Daser" stage, if you pick up the 1-Up right after the mid-stage boss, the game soft-locks.

So I need someone that's good at hacking Genesis ROMs to take a look at it and see why it is doing that.

If someone can help me on fixing this, that will be great.

Help Wanted Ads / [Graphics] [GBA] Final Fight One Redux
« on: February 11, 2020, 09:07:31 am »
Hi everyone,

I need help on my Final Fight One Redux hack, you check it out here: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/3495/

I need help on replacing some of the compressed graphics with new ones that me and a couple other people created for my hack, because I have no idea on how to do it myself.

I did tried, but I couldn’t figure out how to use some of the tools that are available on here.

That’s why I’m looking for someone that’s a expert on inserting graphics to a GBA ROM, to help on adding the new ones to my hack.

If you are a expert on this type of stuff, send me a PM and I’ll show you the new graphics that I want you to replace the old ones with.

If someone can help me on this, that will be great.

Help Wanted Ads / [Graphics] [SNES] Street Fighter Alpha 2 Restoration
« on: October 04, 2019, 10:22:33 am »
Hi everyone,

I recently released a restoration hack for the SNES port of Street Fighter Alpha 2 that restores the red blood and Sodom’s name back to the international versions of this game, you can check it out here: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/4687/

But I recently discovered that the background stages for Birdie, Guy and Sodom are censored in the international versions, here’s what they look like in the Japanese version:

On Sodom's stage, his truck has his name on the license plate and the trailer:

On Guy's stage, the word "KILL YOU" appears on the wall:

On Birdie's stage, there's two people peeing in the urinals and when you use a super move, the left stall opens:

The problem is I don’t know how to restore them, that’s why I’m looking for a hex editing expert that can help me on this. I also think some of these graphics are still in the international versions, but they’re disabled.

If someone can help me on this, that would be great.

Hi everyone,

I need help on finding Katana’s name in the SNES port of Street Fighter Alpha 2, because I’m trying to make a restoration hack for it that will restore the red blood and change Katana’s name back to being Sodom.

I successfully restored the red blood and Sodom’s name for the ingame text:

But I can’t find the hex values for Katana’s name that is used for the select player screen, his versus portrait and his energy bar:

Does anybody know what hex values they used in the ROM so I can change them?

UPDATE: Sodom's name has been restored, but I still need help on restoring graphics for some of the stages, scroll down to the bottom of this page to see what I need help on.

Hi everyone,

Three years ago, me and rainponcho released a hack for the SNES port of Turtles In Time that fixes all the text errors in it, you can check it out here: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/3470/

The reason why I created this help wanted ad is I want to extend the hack to have all the missing defeated boss speeches from the Japanese version, they took them out of the international versions for some odd reason.

That’s why I’m looking for a hex editing expert that can restore them for my hack.

This is what they should say after you defeat them:

Baxter Stockman - “T-TURTLES… NOT WORTH IT!”
Metalhead - “HA… I’VE BEEN MANGLED!”
Ratking - “UH… NOT EVEN THE SEWERS…!”
Slash - “I-I’M HISTORY…!”
Rocksteady - “B-BUT YOU'RE JUST WEAKLINGS!!”
Bebop - “WHAT ARE YOU GUYS?!”
Leatherhead - “I SHOULD’VE GOTTEN OFF AT THE LAST STOP!”
Krang (2nd Fight) - “ARE DEAD!”
Super Shredder - “UWAAAAAA!!!”

If someone can help me on this, that would be great.

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a translator that’s good on hacking GBA ROMs that can translate the Japanese text into English text for my Final Fight One Revival hack, you can check it out here: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/3495/

The stuff that I want to translate is the intro, the ending, the boss encounters and the rest of the stuff that’s not translated to English.

I also want to stick to the original Japanese script for the intro, the ending and the boss encounters as close as possible as well.

That’s why I’m looking for a translator that’s good on hacking GBA ROMs to help me translate the game to English.

I can't change the ingame text to English, because I don't have the skills to do that.

If someone can help me on this, that would be great.

Hi everyone,

I need help on my Final Fight One Revival hack, you check it out here: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/3495/

Me and Vanya discovered that the neon lights on the bar sign, the light bar above the bar's entrance door, the bartender and the crowds in Stage 3 were suppose to be animated.

We found that out because the frames of animation for the bartender and the crowds are still present in the ROM, but they were never used.

There’s also suppose to be a palette cycling effect for the neon lights on the bar sign & the light bar above the bar's entrance door, but they were never used as well.

How I discovered about this is because this port is based on Final Fight Guy (SNES), which had that stuff in it.

That’s why I’m looking for a GBA hacking expert that can create codes that will give the bartender and the crowds their frames of animation and also create a palette cycling code for the neon lights on the bar sign & the light bar above the bar's entrance door as well.

Here’s what they look like:

Here’s how they look in motion:

The neon lights on the bar sign & the light bar above the bar's entrance door: https://youtu.be/X_qGlcJZhrQ?t=819
The bartender: https://youtu.be/X_qGlcJZhrQ?t=822
The crowds (Cage Fight): https://youtu.be/X_qGlcJZhrQ?t=922
The crowds (Edi.E Fight): https://youtu.be/X_qGlcJZhrQ?t=1075

I also want to see if there's a way to give Rolento his missing blue streak that he gives off when he's dashing around the stage back to him, if it's not possible, then it's no big deal.

Here's what it looks like: https://youtu.be/gN8HPpfc75o?t=2695

If someone can help me on this, that would be great.

Help Wanted Ads / [Technical] Need help on some of my hacks.
« on: August 19, 2018, 05:53:34 am »
Hi everyone,

I need help on some of the hacks that me & rainponcho worked on, the problem is the last time he was on here was a year ago, so I can’t get help from him to change & fix these because I don’t have the skills to do these myself.

Here’s what I need help on:

McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure Restoration: Make the title screen more like the Japanese version where they capitalized the "L" for "land" and added a extra text crediting Treasure.
http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/3557/

Minor Fixes for Mortal Kombat II: This will explain what I need help on: http://www.romhacking.net/forum/index.php?topic=25979.0

If someone can help me on these, that would be great.

Hi everyone,

I made a hack for the SNES port of Mortal Kombat II that fixes a few things to make the game a lot closer to its arcade counterpart, you can check it out here: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/3478/

I just recently discovered that there’s a unused music track in the ROM: https://downloads.khinsider.com/game-soundtracks/album/mortal-kombat-ii-snes-1994/36%2520-%2520Unknown%2520Song.mp3

This track is suppose to be used on the text that appears right after you defeated Shao Kahn:

I want to restore it, but I don’t know how.

That’s why I’m looking for a hex editing expert that can do these two things:

Restore the unused track to play only on those text, then when the character’s ending appears, that's when the ending track plays.

Add the ending track to the bios of all the characters in attract mode.

I’m also looking for someone that’s good at editing SNES palettes to change the colors in this game to make it look more like its arcade counterpart as well.

If someone can help me on these, that would be great.

Hi everyone,

I need one more help on my GBA Fire Pro Wrestling hacks, I want to know where are the offsets & hex values for the color palettes that are used for all four referees in all three games.

I want to see if I can give them better colors to make them look more like their real life counterparts.

If someone can help me on this, that will be great.

Hi everyone,

I released two hack for Mega Man Zero 2 & 3 that restores the red blood back to them and it also fixes up their scripts as well, you can check them out here:

http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/3738/
http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/3741/

I need someone that's good at hacking GBA ROMs to help me fix this bug that a user on this site alerted me about in my MMZ2 hack:

In my MMZ3 hack, another user told me that when you kill Hanumachine (the monkey boss) with the Z-Saber his sprite glitches out.

If someone can fix these bugs for me, that will be great.

Help Wanted Ads / Need help on my hack for The Revenge of Shinobi.

Hi everyone,

I just released a hack for The Revenge of Shinobi that gives the Batman & Spider-Man bosses their original colors from the Beta version to the Final version.

You can check it out here: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/3679/

There's one more thing that I want to add to my hack, but I don't have the skills to restore it.

That's why I'm looking for someone that's really good on hacking Genesis games to help me restore the missing Staff Roll that only appears in the Good Ending on the Japanese side of the American ROM, I want it to appear on the American side of the ROM:

https://tcrf.net/The_Revenge_of_Shinobi_(Genesis)#Staff

If someone can help me on this, that would be great.

Hi everyone,

I released a hack for the GBA port of Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts entitled "Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts Revival", it restores all the content that got censored in this version to make it look more like its Japanese counterpart.

You can check it out here: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/3560/

I'm looking for someone that's really good on editing GBA color palettes to change all the colors in this game to make it look more like its SNES counterpart.

If someone can help me on this, that would be great.

I also need help on my Final Fight One Revival hack as well, you can check out on what I need help on this game here: http://www.romhacking.net/forum/index.php?topic=24403.0

Hi everyone,

I just released a hack for the Japanese version of Final Fight One for the Game Boy Advance entitled “Final Fight One Revival” that changes and fixes several things that it makes it behave more like its arcade and SNES counterparts.

You can check it out here: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/3495/

There’s several things that I need for my hack to finish it, but I don’t have the skills to do them.

I want to change all the Japanese text in this game to English, but I want to keep the original Japanese script intact.

I also want to change all the colors in this game to make it look more like its arcade counterpart as well. Same thing with Alpha Cody and Alpha Guy, I also want to give them their arcade colors as well.

I also want to get rid of Rolento’s squished looking arcade sprites and replace them with his sprites from Final Fight 2 for the SNES as well.

This way he’ll blend in the game better with the rest of the SNES sprites they used for all the characters.

Here’s what his FF2 sprites look like:

That’s why I’m looking for someone that’s really good on editing sprites in a GBA ROM to replace his current sprites with his FF2 sprites.

I also want to replace both the hand grenade and the explosion sprites with the ones from FF2 as well.

You’ll have to make new sprites for when he’s climbing up the ladder to match his FF2 sprites.

You'll also have to get his FF2 sprites to work right with his GBA color palettes they used for this game as well, here's is a example:

Here's a image from Final Fight 2 that shows the height of Rolento's FF2 SNES sprite compare to Mike Haggar's FF2 SNES sprite, so you'll know how tall he is:

Here's a video to show you what the heights are for the FF2 sprites of Rolento, the grenade and the explosion effect to help you: https://youtu.be/EHk5JJ56v2Q?t=53m10s

If someone can help me on these, that’ll be great.

Hi everyone, I want to hack Vampire Savior for Sega Saturn to fix a few things. But I need a quick help on figuring out on where are these in the bin file.

What offsets and hex values do I need to change in the bin file to make it when you start the game up, it automatically starts in English mode and it doesn't change the red blood to white when you attack your opponents and it also doesn't change the red blood in the Forever Torment stage to green and keeps the color of Jedah's fluid blood attacks red as well. Is there a way to do that?

Including where is the offsets and hex values for the text that are used for the English endings for Hsien-Ko and Jon Talbain, I want to change the name Lin Lin to Mei-Ling in Hsien-Ko's ending and change the name John to Jon in Jon Talbain's ending.

If someone can help me on these, that will be great.
