Thanks for the detailed answer Queue, good idea to number them too!
See you already implemented one of the ideas by now, awesome!
Dont sweat it though, theyre all pretty insignificant things.
Havent had time to finish the game yet, will take a gander at it this weekend though.

Just got Mana Fortress to do, then im done! Need to do some magic-leveling first though.
Been absolutely amazing! Thanks again. New Christmas tradition.

Got a few ideas.......
- Be able to buy more than 1 item at a time.
- See how many items you already have.
- Some info on what the item does.

- When buying equipment, see if something is already equipped (like an 'E' above the heads).
- And if possible, see increase in 'Defense'.

- Toggle between characters in both circle menu (if im in 'Undine' with the girl and want to jump to 'Undine' with Sprite),
and in 'Level' and 'Stat'-like menu. Instead of having to exit 'Level', and go to next character and enter it again.

- See characters 'Weapon Level' in circle menu.
- See characters equipped weapon in 'Level' menu.
- Equip weapon through 'Level' menu?

- Highlight (more so) Character Icon when that character is controlled. Illuminate square around face of character?
I didnt see the little check mark (?) above the heads until far in to the game. Now, im also just a bit blind.

- Enter secondary characters Circle Menu with Y, not having to go through X.
- Be able to enter secondary characters Circle Menu when played character is frozen (asleep, being attacked etc etc)
- Cancel secondary characters Circle Menu with one button press, instead of having to go back to controlled character via X.

- I remember there being a mini-map when flying? Probably just miss-remembering.
Well, one would be great! Guess its not that easy though.

- Have you changed the logo from Yellow to White?
- Also, the intro music? Where is that from? I dont think i have heard that track before.
Is that part of the hack in the ZPS patcher? (as in, can it be turned off/change back to original?)

- Night/day cycle somewhat freaking out while riding Flammie. Changes rapidly in a very unsmooth fashion.

miaz You probably missed the Sword Orb in Pandora chest room after beating the Wall boss. Hence why you got it twice.

As for the Moon Palace, yes it's possible to enter it the moment you get to the Desert after Mech Rider fight. There's literally nothing in that palace so I like that you can just get over it early instead.

Thanks! I somewhat wondered if it was because i missed one, ill go back and get it then.

Ok, i just turned around, worried i would mess smoething up. Was just such a weird way of getting across.

Btw, is Mr X a Simpsons reference?

No problem, least i could do! Brother was up for getting you the ini file too, if it helps?
Guess it wont now that everything turned out ok.

Do you have a complete list of all the hacks? Or is that only available in the patcher?

Im really loving this! Beyond the visuals and some of the locations, i dont really remember anything, which i did not think would be the case.

Im guessing this is a bug, but the Sword Orb chest you get in the Ruins in Northtown (is that what the place is called?). Anyways, the Ruins whre you fight Vampire. That chest can be opened twice.

Also, you can cross the sands up to the area that brings you to the Moon Palace? in the desert.
If you equip the Spear and just attack, you can attack-cross the sands to the other side. I dont know if that is suppose to work.

Theres a few ideas i got for menus etc, dont know if they can be done, but ill get back to you when ive completed the game.

Massive thanks for this hack!

- the original unmodified ROM?

Select NEW MODIFIED File to Use
- the modified (turbo) rom?

Select File to Save As
- this i get

Both File Size and CRC32 labels are green yes.

How do i generate an IPS file?
Where does the .ini file end up? Im pretty sure he deleted everything now that i said it was working.
Ill send him the ROM from yesterday, and a bunch of new ones to try out.

Ive got some tools on my computer, just to make sure its the correct ROM (that i sent him, and will send him)
External header: No
File / Rom size: 2097152 (2000000)
Rom CRC32: D0176B24
ROM SHA-1: 81330 41A36 3E3CC 68CED EF40B 49B6D 20D0 3C505D
No-Intro entry: Secret of Mana (USA)
Checksum valid: Yes
(This is the one that ended up with the Warning, but ill send him a few more now to try)

Oh yeah, he sent me a screenshot

ZPS crashing is most definitely just down to my computer and a windows issue, it actually gives you some info when crashing,
could jot that down some day. It crashes pretty much as i open it, even when running helper.

I sent him both a headered and unheadered ROM, and with the headered ROM it basically lets you know that its wrong by being a bunch of red, whereas with the unheadered it was all green.
It was the exact ROM i myself have used without that warning message. Ive tried the game out, ive played for a bit and no issues.

Ill try to find another one then. I never really looked up what ROM i need, and just tried a bunch until one worked.
Is it OK to ask what ROM i need? I know i cant as where to find it.

Any clues as to why this happens? "ZPS Patcher has stopped working",

I managed to run it not long ago, i patched the game, i got onto my snes classic, but had
to do a bit of maintenance, so got rid of it and everything else on there,
and now when i open ZPS patcher, it crashes.

Whatever the issue is its clearly a windows issue, but in the meantime,
i had my brother patch it for me on his computer.
Another issue arose there though.
Once ROM is loaded he gets this warning message:
"Invalid Input ROM Detected
Output ROM will crash and not be functional
Locate the correct ROM and try again"
its the exact rom ive myself tried before, and i never got that message.
He patched it anyways, and ive tried to run on Snes9x and no issues what i can tell.
Can i expect any issues further in to the game?

ROM Hacking Discussion / Re: Best improvement hacks for snes rpg’s
« on: November 19, 2020, 11:03:02 pm »
Thanks, should maybe have said what games ive already played, or is unlikely to play anytime soon.
FF6 is one of the few games ive played multiple times, same goes for Chrono Trigger.
Will get back to FF& at some point though, so ill keep that hack in mind.
The cut content added back in CT+, is that based on the extra stuff added to CT DS? Last time i played CT it was the DS version.

Ill add BoF2 Retranslation to the list, and ill have a look at which SoE hack to go with.

ROM Hacking Discussion / Best improvement hacks for snes rpg’s
« on: November 19, 2020, 02:59:45 am »
Finally managed to set my snes classic up properly, and have a lot of catching up to do. First off is Treasure of the rudra, and then we’ll see. But since age has made me bitter I figured that I’d rather play improved games, even though I feel it’s a bit sacrilege, if it means I will actually play them. So I’m basically just looking for the best improvement hacks for pretty much every single snes rpg, but preferably ones that don’t change too much else. Ones I’m keeping and eye on are Frue for Lufia 2, and ultimate for FF4. If you’ve played one that you like, or know of one to check out, I’d really like to know.

Thanks! I’m clearly blind. I’ll try it when I come home. I’ve got a shitty ol laptop running windows, solely for hakchi, but other than that I’m on Mac. The laptops so bad though, that any additional task might cause more problems than they would solve.

It worked! Thanks!
Now i just need Treasure of The Rudra to work too.

Thanks, but sorry to report that, that did not work.
Ive seen 1610 been thrown around too (for SD3), would that possibly do it?
Is it a scale-thing? Or mor of an on-off switch?
1080 had no impact on the text whatsoever.

A question though, you refer to it as "the first menu", is that the only place the text is messed up? If so, i could live with that, but i just assumed it would be all dialogue.

I just patched two different ROMS (one headered that i deheadered using tush i think its called, and one unheadered), and tried them both on my SNES classic.
The text is unfortunately completely unreadable. Re-patched one without the Font-change (chicago etc), did not help. Tried both ROMS on my mac with SNES9X, they both look fine.
Has anyone got this working on a SNES classic?

Havent been following this very closely, not to spol the game (dont remember that much from when i played it as a kid it turns out), but im very much looking forward to it!

Do you have any idea of when it might be done? Maybe never (theres always something)?
How playable is it currently?
Wont have proper time to play until winter, but still.

Anyways, keep up the good work, and again, im really looking forward to this.

Newcomer's Board / Re: Reduce random encounters (snes rpg's)

Have you checked for Game Genie codes that reduce or stop random encounters:

I have, but unfortunately theyre all 'all-or-nothing'. Id like to keep maybe 25% of the encounters,
0% just feels stupid. But ill keep looking.
Thanks though.

Generally speaking....

Thanks for that very detailed answer, unfortunately its all too complex for me. But once i know what im doing, ill get back to that.
For now my solution will just have to be 'Option 2', im currently playing on a snes classic,
not using retro arch, so im gonna have to sort that out first, but not untill i have completed terranigma and smrpg.

Newcomer's Board / Reduce random encounters (snes rpg's)
« on: June 06, 2020, 01:01:44 am »
Ive been getting in to some classic rpgs as of late, but have unfortuenatly had to quit altogether (star ocean), or just kinda been annoyed (super mario rpg), because of the staggering amount of random encounters.

How difficult is it to sort this kinda thing out? I understand its different game to game, and since
SMRPG works a bit like chrono trigger, as in, its not even random, maybe its easier/harder?

Games id love to play are Treasure of the rudras, tales of phantasia (which ive played before, and even back then i hated the random encounters), and star ocean.
But really, all of the games i never played on the snes, which are far more than the ones i did play.

If anyone knows of a hack (could be part of a bigger hack), that allows for reducing enemies/increasing exp/money, for any of the snes rpg's, please let me know.
And if you know how to make such a hack, id love to know.

First post, so not sure where to put it really.
Couldn't find what i was looking for, so guess its an idea for someone else if they fancy.

To be able to to cut the random encounters for the Final Fantasy series (Snes) in half,
and to double the exp. points gained, so it evens out (so it wont be more difficult).
And really, this, but for every other game with random encounters, such as: Star ocean, SMRPG, Tales of Phantasia etc etc.

Ive seen hacks for both FF4 and FF6 where this has been included (somewhat), but theres no increase in exp. points, making the game way harder.
I had to quit playing Star Ocean about 10 hours in because the random encounters were driving me crazy.
