Chill out a bit. I'm also sure that CyberWarrior wouldn't have gotten this far in a translation without being aware of other translation groups, but there's no harm in bringing it up in case he didn't know. And it's not like introducing Anoop's text translation is going to draw interest away from this project.

I always assumed that the Oracle games were designed as a prequel to Link's Awakening, given the former two introduced Link to Zelda and Ganon, and the latter game referenced both of them. If anything, all evidence points directly against the Oracle games being a direct sequel to any Zelda game.

Does Boss say "yo" often? I don't recall that being a thing in the source material, but I could be wrong.

Try this. Also this. That being said, there's nothing in the hacking guide regarding replacing sound effects specifically, so you may want to redirect your question towards the forums. However, judging from your conclusion that tweaking hex values will adjust the jumping sound, you'll in all likelihood be told to start from a beginners guide.

Brutal Mario is an impressive display of ASM hacking, but little else in the hack offers much in terms of enjoyment. Level design in particular suffers, and it's borderline kaizo at times.

That being said, isn't there a policy on this board about modifying other people's hacks without permission and posting the results? I mean, I know there's certainly a 'bad taste' factor in the ROM hacking community, but I also recall places like SMW Central not really caring about it. Either way, I think I'll wait to see if/when Carol releases an update, rather than focus on the works of what sounds like a bunch of excitable thirteen year-olds.

Edit: Oh hey, the poll certainly seems to agree.

I like the addition of the Yoshi's Island-esque falling Chomps, but the appearance of just a zoomed in sprite appears to clash with the rest of the art.

Replacing the sprites can be done with a tile editor, although it sound like you also want to implement some more in-depth changes. SMWCentral has a whole community making use of ASM to make custom features in the game, so you may want to head over there for a basic assembly guide.

I feel I have somehow hit a nerve with some people in my attempt to remove intros from my snes roms, not to worry though, I have found how to remove most intro with a Hex Editor & Geiger’s Snes9x Debugger Mark 9, I'll make a new post with a guide tomorrow, I'm sure some people will enjoy being able to remove some annoying intros, and I'm sure the translators are fine with it.
Ignoring the ridiculous amount of snide "take that" being conveyed by this post, as well as the fact that I've never played an officially localized game that didn't credit the translation company on or before the title screen, there shouldn't be a problem with posting this. It's a guide on editing SNES ROMs to remove intros, so regardless of the fact that presenting the issue in the manner that wade chose to do so is in extremely bad taste, it still serves a purpose that others may find useful.

Since this question had probably popped up numerous times, I'll just go ahead and get it out of the way.

It sounds from the FAQ like you're planning on taking this translation to the finishing point for all four routes at some point in the future. Are you guys open to the possibility of creating an .iso patch at some point along the way, or has it been deemed to difficult to be feasible?
