Hey Lago. Where can I find the portraits for AOS? I remember working on them in the past but can't seem to find them in the latest DSV v1.12.

I am jealous. This is a work of art to be sure. Classic Belmont vs Alucard style. This is just another example of the great things being done with NES Castlevanias right now. Dare I say I might have been a bit too spoiled had these existed when I was a kid. Keep up the great work!  8)

I am still following this and still loving every update. Huge strides are being made within the Castlevania Romhacking community here. There have been way too many cool looking projects for Castlevania that went unfinished and abandoned. Don't let this be one of them. You do great work Toffi!

Looks great Toffi! Keep up the good work.

We can't really like posts, so I'll just put this reply. I think a new Mega Man Halloween Hack is a phenomenal idea! It has been far too long since I have played a new Mega Man hack.

If possible, I think it should be a hack of Mega Man 6. MM6 has a multitude of great content as it is, and would allow for creation of new abilities and diverse routes for each stage. Adding the ability to slide in Power form and Jet form, along with not losing charge when hit, add charge in Jet form, and Double Jump and Air Slide abilities from previous hacks would also make for great additions to this hack.

Players want freedom of movement and earnable special abilities. Give it to them. And make them usable. Add new routes to each stage that requires these new abilities to get to. And make the rewards worth it. Look at MMX2 and all the headaches you had to go through to get the Shoryuken (Fire Punch). Make third level charge, and quick charge, power shield, knock back barrier, half damage buff, speed shot, 5-shot, Jet MM Upgrade, and Power MM Upgrade as some of the rewards earnable. Make this Mega Man Hack the best one ever!

Use memorable music tracks. Some old, and some new. Tracks from memorable horror games with catchy tunes like: Castlevania 3, Zombies Ate my Neighboors, Monster Party, Nightmare on Elm St., Remix of Shademan's Theme, Spooky areas from Non-Horror games, as well as some new horror based songs.

And for once, make Wily NOT THE FINAL BOSS! You could make it seem like he is the final boss, but make a "True Ending" in which the player must fight the "True Boss". Again these are just suggestions and I know it would take a lot of work to do something of this caliber. But I have seen things like this done already. We could give Blue-Bomber fans something they have always dreamed of.  8)

Lago, I noticed a post with v1.4 that has J Rom support for the DS titles. Is there one for the GBA titles as well?

Since there is so many Street fighter fans. Someone could hack GI Joe Atlantis factor or the contra fighter NES rom and replace characters that would fit in with GI Joe theme. Like Guile, Cammy, Nash, M.Bison and Rolento. Also do new levels and it would be an awsome hack i think. Or dew the same to Real american hero. :)

Seconded. These games were awesome, to put it mildly. The gameplay, music, and graphics were way above par for their time. It is hard to believe that not one rom hacker, of the thousands of us there are, have even remotely taken an interest in this. Hacks of these games are long overdue. It wouldn't be hard to even make a "G.I. Joe: The End of Cobra's Tyranny" using ATF as a base, with combined music and characters from both previous games, so long as the hacker had the skills for it. Sprite additions, Music arrangements, some intricate level designs, and a killer story would make for the ultimate hack for this game.
That said, I do realize how difficult hacking is, even with the right programs, which currently there aren't any specifically for this game. I myself have dabbled in hacking here and there with the Castlevania series, and had a few successes, and a few failures, as well as a horribly major mistake that I have learned from, but will never get past. But I have seen people here do things no one else thought possible. So how is it that these 2 AMAZING games were overlooked. COME ON PEOPLE! Help us less fortunate and less skilled gamers and hackers out.  :woot!:

Bruh! This is totally mind blowing. Every update you give us makes me all excited like playing CV3 for the first time.

Personal Projects / Castlevania POR Beta Testers Wanted.
« on: November 18, 2021, 10:29:57 am »
Hello. I need some people to test the final beta of a hack of Castlevania - Portrait of Ruin that I have been working on for awhile. Play through the game looking for bugs or errors, as well as test if all storyline aspects are working. I am not sure if everything is correct. Known issues: Game may freeze when using certain warp points, save often. Music does not restart after using Stopwatch until leaving the entire area. Using puppet master subweapon may crash the game(This will be removed from final release if I cannot get it to work properly). To test this hack, apply this patch to Castlevania - Portrait of Ruin (USA) rom.

Stopwatch can be located in hidden room in ceiling of bike room. Jump, shoulder spring, double jump, then backflip with down+L to reach room without griffon wing.

Slight adjustments made in DSV to reflect Stopwatch working on Late Game Bosses.

  Patch is updated:

Awesome stuff Toffi! Keep up the great work. This hack is gonna be amazing. Things like this help keep fading series like Castlevania alive. CASTLEVANIA FOREVER!!!!!

 Super glad to hear this isn't dead. I loved seeing a new castle layout and new gear. And the mood was cool for the background as well. Keep at it. I am not the only one who wants to see this hack happen.

Great work Toffi. Glad to see it is coming along well. I would help if I knew anything about ASM assembly. lol

This looks like a definitely needed improvement. I hated having to rebuy keys for the same door. I hope the finished patch will be compatible with the Facelift patch.

Happy to help. Glad you are enjoying it.  8)

Castlevania - Harmony of Dissonance:

I would like to see Castle A palette to Castle B and Castle B palette to Castle A would look like.
If possible, I also like to see the layout as well.

Get the DSVania tool. It could show you all of those things. Open DSVania, Extract Rom - Castlevania - Harmony of Dissonance. Once open, you can see the entire map. Click on any room to show it in the right window. Includes multiple editing functions like map and tile editing. Credits to Lago Lunatic for such an amazing tool. Most people hacking DS and GBA Castlevanias resort to this tool now. We even have a CVRomhacking Discord for it now. Hope this works out for you.

Always great to see these updates. It really makes my day! That Circus Scene though, it is hella awesome. I hope we continue seeing more new content like this. It really gives new life to hacks like this.
