Personal Projects / Wario's Woods - The Haunted Forest
« on: November 10, 2019, 07:02:04 pm »
An old friend of mine once tried to create Wario's Woods for the Nes with the standard Mario System. A lot of the Mario Characters do appear in this game but a lot are also missing. His goal was to import the Mario Characters and create a Mario's Woods if you will, Where the game matched the other Mario Games better. Mainly Mario 2. Since the project was abandoned long ago, I got permission and decided to take it on and see if I could surpass where he got stuck. Mainly colors, Hex editing, The stuff that he didn't know how to do. Right now it's in early stages. But, Got a Goomba in there so far, Looking pale and sick. Lol. Which will get fixed in a moment.

I may take the project farther and create a secondary version that contains Mario himself and Bowser.
But I will start with the basics first.

The project's story has taken a turn. With still plenty of room for change. The project seems to be following a more dark feel for Wario's Forest, Taking the vibe from Mario Land 2 and how Mario's Castle became dark and sinister when Wario took over. I mean we are talking about a Forest ruled by Wario and his monsters. Sunshine and blue skies seems opposite to what Toad/Mario would have to endure while fighting their way through.

Personal Projects / Final Fantasy Syncronization
« on: July 25, 2019, 01:13:57 am »
This is a small project I have been working on. It contains edits for the first 3 Final Fantasy Games for the NES.

The goal is to make them match the way the later games do. Not so much rewriting scripts or editing game play but fixing the colors and such.

These patches will be capable of going on top of any other patch as well as the original games.

To start off I have begun editing the colors for the text screens.

Personal Projects / Re: Final Fantasy NES Trilogy Translations

I have an unusual problem with Final Fantasy III, When I try to start the game after taking a break it changes the Header ID I think it's called?

For instance, The first time I play it I get this - C74ED9C6-00000000

Then when I come back another day I get this - C74E96C6-00000000

The D9 becomes 96.

This prevents me from saving because the emulator thinks the game is different from the save file and it keeps switching back and forth every time I boot up.

What would cause this?

This is great!

This is what I thought it was going to be in the first place.

Sometimes the extra polish can be too much at times, As it was said years ago from a kind guy at The Final Fantasy Compendium, Sometimes simple is just better.

So I understand and not confuse whats actually happening with my wishful thinking.

You are going to release the translation again but without the expansion and mapper change?

So it just plays with the original Rom configuration just with a re-translation like how your Final Fantasy II re-translation was done?

Or is it something completely different?

I woudn't mind seeing a release with the original sprites too as an alternative version. This version is very good and I wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth. However, Mario does seem somewhat giant compared to most of his enemies.

Wow! I didn't see this coming.

This is incredible! It just shows that even if there isn't any evidence of an awesome project going on. It doesn't mean it isn't in the works.

Awesome Job!

Yes, An HD Patch would be incredible. Plus use the PSP Soundtrack over it.

In fact use the Origins Graphics from the first game on PS1, Then we can finally have an Origins Version of Final Fantasy III.  :)
