That would be very interesting. A Della hack would be a start!

Just switching out the graphics and changing some text is easy. But yeah, it would be really cool to make a reboot based hack with new levels. Maybe start on the moon and Della has to get back to earth!

Ok, so this project is not dead. I'm only sleeping. But I've picked this up and will do more levels. And I've added more bosses from Yellow Submarine.

It was quite tricky to repurpose Fryguy into the Dreadful Flying Glove. Thanks iridium_ionizer for the graphics btw.

Fryguy uses mirrored animations and that messed up the graphics.




Fryguy animations starts att 620A
Change a0 values. Example A0:D2 Change the D2 into C6 or something else. That's the graphic tiles.

It also comes with a difficulty selection based on the save file you choose to play.

I added The Adventure of Link and Lonk to the list. Wow, multiplayer co-op Zelda! Good job. Does one dare to hope on the original Zelda getting the same treatment?

This idea just came to me: A Tiny Toon Adventures NES hack with Babs, Shirley, and Fifi taking the roles of Buster, Plucky, and Furball for the game (not sure whether to just leave Dizzy in or replace him with another Toon character). I mean after seeing the role switching hacks of other games, I wouldn't mind trying to play as Babs on the first game (maybe the Gameboy game too).

EDIT: Also on the subject of hacks and gameboy, someone should really make the 3 PPG GBC games a little more bearable. I mean there were just some bugs that made my gameplay experience with the three games impossible.

I could have sworn I've already seen this hack. But I guess I'm wrong. Looked for it and couldn't find it. I must have dreamt it. The only female charter I could think of instead of Dizzy is Mary Melody. Or perhaps... Granny? Sweetie? Idk. XD

I actually started to work on Conan. Tried to make it look nicer, with better controls and whatnot. But I soon realized the game is so boring, so broken and so bad it's not worth touching.

I was wondering if anyone here has made a list of games (specifically NES games, but 16-bit is okay too) that have GREAT gameplay, but POOR-quality art assets? I would think that these would be some of the best games to give a graphics hack, since it would breath new life into something that most people won't touch simply because of the poor art.

I'm also interested in this.
I've started a similar thread a while ago.
But I wish to know awful games that have been fixed.

Hmm not quite sure if I get it right but... It sounds like I can only swap the starting point of the three swords. Afaik it is lke this: the wooden sword uses same colors as for example Link, The white Sword (and magical boomerang) use the same as blue enemies, and the magical sword uses the same colors as red enemies. so even if I swap these three around so the magical sword uses Links colors then the white and wooden sword will use other colors instead?

My goal to make Link and his equipment and all three swords use the same Dark Colors while the world will stay the same will not be achieved by that will it?

Well, you could redraw the weapon sprites to just have one or two colors with YY-CHR.

Really? Nobody likes the classic Batman? I always thought he was the best one.

I do like the 60s batman show. I appreciate it as a campy parody comedy version of Batman.

Needless to say, that Shadows of Gotham hack is so much cooler than that and need more of a 80s vibe.

Love that game/hack, but I noticed some of the art could be improved. If anyone can get me the enemy sprites, I wouldn't mind doing some work on that. I'm a pretty big Batman fan. 

I agree. I'm also a Batman fan and wish I could help with the graphics, but I have too much on my plate right now. Perhaps I could do just one or two enemies if someone else is also interested in helping out.

Osman Color released a Batman hack of Shatterhand a couple of months ago that I started to improve. Have you seen it? This is also a hack that need some love. And Batman villains.

Yeah, I just posted my findings so far.

I'm not super sure about Link's palette in every single level. But I'm working on it. I'll update the list as I go.

The green palette weapons ALWAYS has the same color as Link, both in overworld and in levels.

Edit: I found the adresses for LEVEL palettes. Yes. Every level seem to have it's very own set of palettes.


I'll update previous list as I go along.
