Newcomer's Board / Re: Ask about problem release a patch
« on: July 19, 2020, 04:26:10 am »
Hello, Jorpho.

Thank you for responding.

I just checked the DLC on the store and it is still on sale.

I guess I'll just release my patch along with a few DLC files I've translated or I'll try to make an xdelta patch for them.

(although I'm not sure if this works, because each file DLC only has about 100-200kb, which is really inconvenient for people when patching it manual, I guess I will try making a batch file for it. Hope it will work.)

Btw, thank you for help!  :woot!:

I have made some patches, and I am excited to share it.  :woot!:

but some of the game patches I made require some special DLC (some have been edited and translated, but not all) for it to work.

So, I want to ask if I can share all that DLC with the game patch when I release it? Is it legal? Or should I share only the DLC files I edited?

Sorry, i'm still a noob.  :-\

ROM Hacking Discussion / Re: I need UTF8 encode table
« on: July 14, 2020, 08:53:25 pm »
Hello, iridium.

Thank you for help.

But table of the link above look strange.

example hex value of ビ = 30D3

But infact in UTF-8 = E38393, even on SHIFT-JIS = 8372

I think it is not what I am looking for.

I guess, it does not have a table (UTF-8) available around here.  :-\

I will try do a table for it then.

Sample file: http://www.mediafire.com/file/ezlx2n0tcjdet2f/s1.txt/file

I tried find around forum and google search, but only found table support SHIFT-JIS. (guess, UTF-8 dont popular.)

Hi HoaiTrung97,

never worked with Pascal strings before, but you might wanna hit up "abw", the developer of "abcde":

https://www.romhacking.net/forum/index.php?topic=25968.0

Not sure if abcde already supportes those, but you might be able to ask for a feature request!
Hello, Risae!

I will try research with that tool right now, thank you for help.   :woot!:

I believe this is what's called a "Pascal string", and it's something that Atlas supports, but I don't remember how it works off-hand.
Thank you for reply, I will try it right now. thanks ;D

Hello Vehek, "Pascal string" really worked on my script, you really has saved me. Thank you.  ;D

I have still a question, if can, I hope you can explain for me.

On this game, Pascal String only work up to value "0x80" (128 byte), if more, it will should become "0x8001" (129 byte) to it work. But on Atlas it will become "0x81" (129 byte), this do mess text on game.

I think i can do some trick to it pass this, but still better should try ask you in case have really a resolution to fix this.  :woot!:

ROM Hacking Discussion / Ask about problem string text on Atlas
« on: June 01, 2020, 12:17:20 am »
Hello, everyone. I am trying to hacking the text of LovePlus (DS) game, my script atlas now works quite well with it, but it is still not perfect and there are a few questions I hope someone here can explain for me.

The string text of game looks like this:

<xxx><yyy>

yyy = text of game, example i have : 'Hello.'

xxx = This is the hex value of the length string text, example 'Hello.' = 0x06. It is always placed in front of each string text.

Currently the atlas script I wrote only can instert text and pointer, but I don't know how to mod the <xxx> value of the text.

I wonder, does Atlas have any function to solve this type of text string?

(I'll upload the sample file later, because I can't use a PC right now) :woot!:

ROM Hacking Discussion / Re: Help About Edit Pointer
« on: January 03, 2020, 05:12:48 am »
Sorry @ Cyneprepou4uk because of the slow response, I don't have much time to online.
However, I'm sorry, but I still can't figure what you want to say, it sounds stupid, but I only know a few simple manual calculations for them. I really don't know about things you want talk, sorry. T.T
In fact, in my time I did not check this theard. I have completely edited them manually, What is a nightmare.
I am currently working on a new project, and this time, their pointers are extremely cluttered, manual edits are very hard. So I'm learning how to use Atlas to optimize my work.
Although I read the Atlas documentation, I still dont fully understand all of them.
The text insertion was fine (still missing fell place, but I could manually edit it) and I locate all pointers correctly.
But the pointer insertion is completely incorrect, I'm having a headache about this.
This is the script file I wrote with Atlas.
http://www.mediafire.com/file/eva4geqpxhvjp8n/POIN.rar/file
Hope everyone can help me edit it, or write some samples so I can try copycat them.
Thank You SO MuCh!

Yeah, but I don't understand what you mean, can you explain in more detail?  :o

You mean it where the pointer / text begins or ends, right?

@Gideon Zhi
Yeah, guess that's probably the only option, although it takes a lot of time writing the script.  :P

@Cyneprepou4uk
Wow! Really worth to looking forward. Thanks.  :)

@FAST6191
Um, I don't have much experience with Office Software, guess maybe more research is needed.  :D

Woa, thank you you guys has reply my question  :D

@Cyneprepou4uk
Oh, I've used this method before, but the problem now is that I want to find a better way to automatically edit pointers. I'm tired with work should edit one by one~ haha  :laugh:

@FAST6191
Wow, just googling for this, I never know about this before, it looks interesting, just wondering what program are you using for a spreadsheet?  ;D

ROM Hacking Discussion / Help About Edit Pointer
« on: November 06, 2019, 08:22:01 am »
Hello, I know how to edit pointers and have hacking skills (a bit).  ;)

But I am not a programmer, or have any skills related to it.

So I don't have any way of writing myself an editing tool pointer to optimize my work.

Most of me I have to edit them manually, editing them one by one. It's not too difficult, but for super-large files, it's a nightmare for me, because if the edit text is wrong, I will be forced to edit the entire pointer again. kill me, kill me.  :banghead:

So I post this thread, in order to want to ask people, is any tool for automatic pointer editing easier? As just provided where pointer start / end, where text start / end. And it is fully automatic edit. :)

Some people recommend me to use Atlast, yeah it's quite useful, but I don't know how to optimize it, the writing process is long time, writing pointers by line, pasting text, the time I write scripts recent = time I edit the pointer manually (if I'm careful). So it quite unless. :-[

So if possible, hope someone can help me write a sample script from atlast better, so I can refer to it.  ;D

This is a sample script file and the translation I need to edit.

Newcomer's Board / Please Help Me!! I am a Newbie!!
« on: October 15, 2018, 01:35:36 pm »
Hello everyone, I have a few questions about the forum, please explain to help me.
1. Romhacking allows to upload raw patch of game file, to forum? Since I'm currently working on the Toukiden Kiwami English Patch [PSP] project, I want to upload it when it's done.
2. By Gbatemp, the current site I made this project, does not allow uploading of patch files for UMD, only allows to upload xdelta.
3. I feel very upset about their rules, such as:
Do not allow too many comments in the topic: I just want to have discussions discussing the project and thank everyone who has support me.
Abuse Level System: They locked both of my projects and asked to put them together, so messy, although I did not do anything wrong.
Do not allow me to upload patch files outside xdelta, it's annoying, when many people do not know how to use them, I just want to help people but they do not agree.
4. I hope RomHacking will not be like Gbatemp, they really upset me about the hate rules.
Ps: Thank you everyone for taking the time to read my topic.
