Personal Projects / Re: Chrono Trigger MSU-1 (with FMV's)

This looks like an amazing project! Unfortunately I'm currently stuck playing Retroarch on a switch. The only option I have is Snes9x, which--at least this version--Seems to require a manifest file to use these hacks. Can't wait for the release!

Can you try this version, maybe? I linked you to a 3.0 version of Xdelta because that was the newest I found a Windows binary for, but it looks like there's a Windows .exe file for 3.1.0 here.

I might have to look at adjusting the window size I used. I created the patch with a very large window size (range in which content shifts are examined) because files shifted position in this patch, and that keeps the size of the patch down. But it looks like that might have broken support for versions of Xdelta earlier than 3.1.0.
Is the name of the .bin supposed to change with this version?
The patcher doesn't throw out any errors, and makes the two .WAV files just fine. But the name of the .bin doesn't seem to change, nor does the modified date on it.

Thank you so much for your work!
I had a question. Would it be possible to transfer the higher-quality soundtrack found in the Saturn version of Eternal Blue Complete over to the PSX version? I attempted it myself a year or so ago but didn't get very far due to my lack of coding knowledge.

Newcomer's Board / Replacing XA Audio on a PSX game (Lunar 2: EBC)
« on: October 03, 2017, 07:31:45 pm »
Hello! For the last couple days I've been researching ways to possibly replace the audio in a PSX game.
The game in question is Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete. Originally released on the Sega Saturn exclusively in Japan. It was then ported to the PSX with an english version.

Sadly, the audio suffered greatly in the transition. While the saturn music is streamed off the disc, the PS1 version is done with the midi engine. While this led to a clearer sound. The tone and depth of the soundtrack suffered greatly. Here are two examples:

Saturn Boss Theme:
PSX Boss Theme:

So. I've decided I want to try to put the saturn quality tracks into the PS1 version. I've gotten the ADX files from the saturn disc. And converted them into .wav, since that's what I read to be the best to convert into XA.

Now for the problems I'm having. After doing some research on possible ways to go about this. I've hit multiple road blocks that I can't seem to overcome.
Trying to read the PSX disc in multiple programs (XAPlay, XA Audio Convertor, Psound) and trying to convert the needed files have thrown me multiple errors. Most of them in garbled text.

The closest I got was using Psound to scan the disc, which gave me numbered data files that had every sound effect, synth sample, and voice file in the game.
So the next step I'm having trouble finding info and/or a program that will work for it is to convert the wav files into XA. and then seeing if it's possible to insert them back into the game. Or if it's even something possible.

Thank you for your time in reading this, and any help or a pointer on where I can find more information is appreciated!
