There is the forest for the trees thing if you want to go that way, and the editor you were using allows it. Figure out how to have less refills and/or more enemies that might make use of it.
Yes I could do that but one reason I want to limit use or reduce use is to promote a mechanic in the game without allowing the player to abuse it.
I’d still like the game difficult enough to need other spells to remain low magic use as the hack already allows.  This is the only way I could think to make it more fair and avoid a go around method for some game design

Thanks for all the info. That’s a lot more then I thought. When I get some time I’ll give it a shot although I’m not that confident
I appreciate the detailed step by step info. I should be able to figure it out if I plug away at it

Hi everyone. Still relatively new to this and was working on a AOL hack but I started the base game using the hack aol redux. They made the magic coats less then the original game and I was looking to make it more then the original for some spells for a hard version.

I’ve been using a few utilities to work the game so any explanation on how to change this for a newcomer would be great since I’m not that good at this

Personal Projects / Zelda II overworld utility

Hi guys, I’m working on another Zelda II hack and had a question about Njosro s overworld utility program. In Zelda 2 the northern and southern areas of both Eastern and western hyrule have forced enemy encounters that are different as you progress into different sections of the game. Grass or field in north western hyrule is much different then eastern or southern areas.
My north palace is in the lower section of western hyrule but the enemies in the forced encounters there are much harder then the traditional
Starting point. Although I plan to make the game
Harder then the originall I don’t want this to be a turn off for some players.
Can these encounters be edited in that tool, or another utility on the site?
I’m new at this and really have to stick to the untilites to make games as I’m not great with computers and absolute horrible at writing code  :-\
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, that worked.
Is there a similar process to edit enemy collisions? In eastern hyrule I found 3 tiles that seem like enemy collision tiles but don’t recall finding them in the other areas of the game.

Ok, palace question.
I set the palace rock on the editor and then play the palace test, works fine but doesn’t place the crystal since it’s a test. Loaded the game and started a full play through. After finishing the palace and placing the crystal I walk out. Game crashes. Any idea what to check?
Each palace has had the item set to the palace and a palace rock that is unique to its surroundings

I’m using the side view editor tool and overworld editing tool together.

Both editors I’m using are by Njosro.

New question for anyone reading, how do I use the over word or side view editor and select the hidden town or the hidden palace?
I usually load up the file in overworld and then edit scenes by selecting them in the overworld which loss the side view editor just for the selected screen. There is no palace or town to select for those hidden places just an exclamation point on the map.

Im working on a hack for adventures of link. I’ve had a bunch of setbacks, some of which rendered the game unloads Le. My latest issue is placing locked doors. For some reason I cannot get them to line up with the floor when I place them in some spots. I’m using side view editor and the overworld editor together.
At first I thought it was the floor or ceiling anchors but now I’m not sure. I’ve been able to find suitable spots in other rooms of the palaces during testing but wanted to know if I’m missing something for future reference.

Ok so found a program on here to edit the story and create an a patch. How do I patch the rom file? When I attempt to patchnit using zedatech it patched the story to remove the colored highlighted words but the text remained original.
Also any good programs to edit the credit screen?

3dude I just realized you made links shadow. I’m currenlty playing it. I’m dungeon 8. Pretty good man. Much harder then I was doing. Some of the bosses in the dungeons are insane because of the small space to fight them in 👍🏻

Hi everyone,
I’m new to romhacking. I’m working on my first game of the legend of Zelda. I found some good tools like Zelda dungeon to work with but I’m not sure how to edit the title screen or text for the story line. Any pointers would be great. Thanks
