If no one here can help you, you can ask at Serenes Forest forums, where many romhackers hang out for the FE series. Just be cautious of some of their rudeness which comes from niche communities.
Well, I said already that I am "permanently banned" there for sharing my IP with a spammer, and the admins and mods won't reply to my emails  ;)

Because 776 just won't work for me no matter what I do(maybe incorrect modules, but the one I have seems to be the only one on the Web) I decided to try Sacred Stones hacking n Nightmare.
I want to make some classes playable, however they cannot promote without using a Master Seal/Earth Seal, like the Brigand.

I want to make the promotion pointer lead so that the Knight's Proof can promote Soldiers as well, and the Hero Crest can promote Brigands as well.

There is also an unused Heaven Seal item (that is used to promote lords in FE: Blazing Sword) and I want to change the pointer of promoting so that it can promote monsters. (I want to make a couple be in my game)

Can anyone guide me on the simplest way to do this? I haven't got any experience with hex editing, but if that is the only way please help me nonetheless.  ;)

That would be the SNES Fire Emblem Judgral series, because my modules in Nightmare just don't work (Thracia 776).
And I think MOTHER, there is one, but for the NES and it is abandoned at around 10-20% through.
Also, the Advance Final Fantasy games (nothing on major hacking, save for VI, VI and more VI :( ).

I would love to see either of them come to life  :)

So, I decided to hack Thracia 776 because of the Capture function I wanted to use for a game, but random numbers popped up in each description when I used the modules.

I used the ROM version of the game, and both Nightmare and Nightmare 2.0. Is there anything wrong with the modules I am using? Or is Nightmare incompatible with Thracia 776?  :(

Hi, I'm that MUGEN guy who is always chased by a hacker who loves posting spam, Pingurules. Don't worry about the spam part though.
(Because he hacked my account so that I can't log in for some time, I couldn't log in for some time. But now, I'm free :D )

I'm making a Final Fantasy hack based on the game FFIV. It's going along pretty fine, and I've brought a few screenshots with me.

A few spoilers here!
(Due to SNES limitations the story may seem like the original FFIV one, but I'll try to make it as different as possible. :) )

The characters are:
Quentin(Quentn) the Scholar, Shy/Depressed/Kind personality
Xuan the Geomancer, Confident/Shy/Helpful personality
??? the (legendary) Gladiator, Humble/Careless personality
Sarah the White Fighter, Concerned/Touchy personality
Zachary(Zachry) the Black Fighter, Brave/Rude personality(like Edward Geraldine[ninja from ff4])
????? the Rune Knight, Careful/Weird personality
???? the Devout
????? the Shaman
????? the Pirate
Cid the Dancer(wait, what?)
Cliff the Onion Knight
Grey the Oracle
*might be removed*Robin the Sage (see what FE game I am refrencing?)

Story(not confirmed):
In the town of MjOnir, where Scholars take their tests(and those who want and are worthy become a Red Mage), the King, Y, feels something wrong in his castle and sends Quentn and his classmate Scholars to go around the other places in the world to see if there is anything wrong as well. And they asked around. They were shocked to hear that everyone can sense an evil presence, some places stronger than others. They went back to report. Y recounts a legend that Evil itself will attack the universe to destroy it, time and space-only (yeah, generic story right?) the power of five souls- A person experienced in white magic, a person experienced in black magic, a person experienced in Gaia magic, a person experienced in using magic to empower his weapon, and a person that can do all of the above- when merged can slay Evil, and it will go into a slumber once more. Quentin was then tasked with such a heavy mission. He wanted to *removed* as he thinks he is useless and that Y just wants to scare him and rid of him. Sarah then interrupts and tries her hardest to motivate the poor guy. He finally decides not to jump and together with Xuan and Sarah exits MjOnir to search for these five heroes. Although Quentin didn't know it, he just might be one of them...

Most likely to stay the same, but if it is modifies please don't expect masterpieces  :-\ It's real hard to hex.


Ok, here's how I need your help! I don't want to make the game easy, so here it is. I have Raise and Arise, so should I add "Rvive" (revive everyone with low HP), or would that be too overpowered? Thanks for your opinion!

Secrets of the Game:
Easter Egg! I used my personality for Quentin's. Yeah, I'm a always depressed and sometimes emo guy who got bullied and practically tortured his entire lifetime. And of course I'm battling the urge to jump all the time.  :'(
Okay, that was depressing, how about something more light-hearted? You gain levels pretty quick and end up at estimated level 85 by the endgame (you need to be level 99 for all 5 to beat the game if you're not good at ATP and maybe 90-95 for those more experienced). Oh, and my favourite White magic spell "Ultima" debuts in this game too. It has a small backstory like in Final Fantasy II.  ;D

Why did I use this instead of Final Fantasy X?
FFI- You can choose party members, not what I wanted. And charge system is really bad(I mean, 9 only?).
FFII- This was what I wanted to do, but there were no finished/good hacking tools.
FFIII- Plan B, but no hacking tools either. This time, not at all.
FFV- No hacking tools that my computer can use.
FFVI- NO.  >:(
FFVII- 3D issues. I could do it, but events hacking is really hard, let alone music and spriting.
FFIX- ^, but it would do if it has to be 3D.
FFX onwards- I can't do complex polygoning :(

I'm not too excited about this, probably because it only has the classic SMB1 skin other than their 3D Mario... I do wish they have SMW or SMBGBA. But it'll be pretty fun drawing near impossible levels or troll levels and showing them to my friends! I think I'll go buy a Wii U...  :)

Hi, I'm Pingurules and I'm mostly known for M.U.G.E.N coding (and I'm also not famous at that  :'( ) and I've been hacking Final Fantasy IV with hacking tools (except music, in which unless some Thomas Edison creates a tool for hacking FFIV music, cuz I'm also learning a bit of hex and by the time I'm editing music I'll probably be already experienced enough to do so.)
I don't know what to call it, but I will think up of it eventually. (Maybe Final Fantasy MMMCDXXXVIII [3438], because it'll take a very long time till Square gets there, if they ever get there.) :)

What I want your opinion on is that the "Raise/Life" line of spells are known for reviving dead teammates. I currently have "Raise/Life" (renews an ally with few HP) and "Arise/Life 2"(renews an ally with all HP). Should I make a "Revive/Life 3"(which renews all allies with few HP) spell or would that be too overpowered? :-\

Thanks for telling me that, but what I actually wanted was to add more spells, not the letter names. Still, if sprite editing might take a while I might try fixing the bugs in YYCHR which doesn't work on me.

I've tried editing the sprites in the game I am making by editing it in YYCHR. However the C++ version is in gibberish and that I have no idea what the options are (maybe incompatible with my computer which is an ultrabook), and the C# version works fine for options but when I open both they have a really weird palette which I can't figure out how to fix.  :banghead:
I know a little about hex editing but I just started like 5 April 2014, and I know it has to be 6 digits but no matter what option I pick when I go to the hex address for character spriting it shows 8 digits! Mind if you guys provide some assistance to a n00b?  :thumbsup:

I've been working on a hack on Final Fantasy IV, or known to US peeps as Final Fantasy II, where I completely modified everything with a hacking tool. But there is one problem: The sprites. I can't seem to know how to edit sprites.

Is there anything I can do using the hacking tool or do I have to use a hex program? If so, how do I get started on that hex program?

Do you mind having character sprite editing in the next update? I would love to have that!
And, if it's not too much, can you make a ROM expansion so I can add more spell sets and magic, and an index editor?
Anyways, this is by far my favourite FF hacking tool with FFHackster just as good! I'd love to see more masterpieces from you.  :thumbsup:

Hi everyone! I am Pingurules, and most of you if you know me know me as a MUGEN creator. But nobody much cares about me in MUGEN  :'( (or any other stuff I make)
I took an interest in ROM hacking and so I decided to come here.
Second thought: Wow, Earthbound hacking tools!
Third thought: There's Final Fantasy...but no Dawn of Souls, especially FFII, my favourite... buttherehastobefinalfantasy6(66)brokenunfairandboringedition
