You can see something with Tim Viewer using the scan raw?

Yes. TIM Viewer shows me about 3500 files (all textures and fonts). But the main problem is get full access to the text in game. I can find text only using SnesEdit or WindHex with relative searching. I know that all texts from game are compressed or encrypted in KKIIDDZZ.DAT

I checked it:

So, on the picture word sound is "B>D=3." in this file ;p

And translating a game using this old hex editors and tables is hard and uncomfortable, so i thought maybe someone is interested in creating unpacker or text tool and this game could be more popular in other countries with other languages ;p
I really want to translate it into polish ^^

And I have great tool to convert STR (psx movies) to AVI and AVI to STR (to make subtitles in STR files), but in this case it isn't working at all, so here it comes other important obstacle in translating :(

What is your goal??
You want to translate the game??

Yes, I want to translate the game, but i have trouble with that. I can find text to translate using SnesEdit, but it is very old hex editor and I'm looking for easier way to do it for example with some kind of script or text tool. Do you know something like that?

I have also problem with movies with .str extension. I can't convert them to AVI using str converter. Do you have any idea how can i convert STR to AVI and then AVI to STR?

@ikskoks: well link files to download to a forum where you have to be registred and you need to pay something to register, it's not a good idea.
I wanted to register longtime ago to Xentax but I don't use paypal so i can not register

I uploaded this files also on my website. They are free to download. You can do with them whatever you want. Any help with Ape Escape is very appreciated. :)

DOWNLOAD APE ESCAPE CUTTED FILES

I can also upload full files, but only if it is legal and not forbidden on this site ^^

Hello. I need help with unpacking and repacking archive KKIIDDZZ.DAT in this game. Can someone look at this files and create quick bms script or tool/unpacker? Please :)

This game has these files/folders:

DEMO folder - there are many files with *.str extension (movies in psx games)
MINIGAME folder - many files with *.BIN extension and few files with *.GRD and *.EXE extension
STR folder - sounds and possibly movies
KKIIDDZZ.BNS - I'm not sure
KKIIDDZZ.DAT - archive or just container with data
KKIIDDZZ.HED - small file with header or something like that
SCUS_944.23 / SYSTEM.CNF - default psx files, not very important

I think that textures, models, texts and scripts are compressed in this KKIIDDZZ.DAT file, so it is very important for me to extract and import them to this file ;)

I also uploaded cutted files (KKIIDDZZ.BNS / KKIIDDZZ.DAT / KKIIDDZZ.HED) for analysis. Download below.

DOWNLOAD FILES FOR ANALYSIS

I am also posting a link to DEMO version of the Ape Escape. Maybe it will help a little with analysis process.
Any help with that is appreciated :)

The sizes of the files i'm re-inserting are exactly the same.
I export file from image by cdmage, edit it in tile molester and put back to the disc image. After this, game crashes when i play on ePSXe ; )

Game also crashes when i change some hex in snesedit (without exporting file by cdmage)

EDIT:

The Playstation Translation Doc seems pertinent; it appears there are a number of reasons why problems might arise rather than there necessarily being some kind of crc check.
What do you mean? I read this doc and it doesn't help me ; )

Helo. I have game protected by libcrypt or crc-check. It is  MediEvil 2 PAL.
I'm trying make polish translation to this game.

When i change something (graphics or hexs) in a file inside the disc image of this game, it corrupts and crashes when i launch a game in a ePSXe emulator.
My friend told me that is protection's fault and i must remove it. How can i do this?

I'm using cdmage to insert and export files from disc image. It fixes ECC/EDC errors on the fly and i think this is reason of broken game, because cdmage repairs corrupted sectors needlessly and checksum of the image is incorrect. Do you know any programs with functions of cdmage, but not fixing ECC/EDC on the fly?

"Learn how the machine works first" - Where can i start?
I think that subtitling is very hard, but i can do this if i really want ^^

Is there any easier way to insert my voice instead original voice?

Should i create a new topic about Crash Bandicoot specific NSF files?

(i'm sorry for my tiring posts ;p)

I can export music, voices and other sounds to WAV files by Psound from playstation NSF files.
I thought that is possible to export character voices, so it is possible to import them too.
I explain it on example:
Some people did polish translation to MediEvil 2
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69N_B30B9OU
but originally this game is in english
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqTgHguKVFI

Crash Bandicoot 3 doesn't have subtitles in movies, so i must add my own subtitles or my voice to this movies
I'm not a genius on ASM skills ; )

You explained me how add subtitles to SRT files and I appreciate it, but Crash Bandicoot 3 has only NSF files and i have big trouble with that ; )
Romsstar, do you know how add subtitles or voice to Crash Bandicoot movies? ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WE-2A_A7Rs - it is one of the movies i'm talkng about)

EDIT: I found similar topic on the internet http://forums.ngemu.com/showthread.php?t=127030 but noone replied ;)

PSXMC doesn't work on my windows 7. Blue screen of death shows up and i must restart my computer.

Crash Bandicoot 3 doesn't have STR files ; )

I found only NSF and NSD files.
I scanned these files by PSound program and I found dialogues that i want to translate.

There are two options:
1. I can add polish subtitles like i said in my first message in this topic.
2. I can add polish dubbing instead original english dubbing.

So, how can i add polish dubbing or polish subtitles in NSF files?

Thanks guys for your help. Now i know how replace STR files, but i have problems with this NSF files. Can you help me? Please ; )

Newcomer's Board / SnesEdit - search
« on: October 12, 2011, 08:59:24 am »
Is there any way to search something in snesedit backward?

All texts to translate in my game are on the end of the image. Every time program finds text on the end of the searching (87-91%) and i'm wasting my time waiting for results ; /
Please help me. It is very important for me ;)

First, how did you get that tim file? By the looks of its name, I'm guessing you've ripped it, hence why the program won't be able to reinsert it even in a million years as there's no filename match.

I launched SnesEdit, then clicked F4 and T on my keybord. Program scanned entire image and showed me all TIMS in this game. So, i clicked insert TIM and edited TIM in Adobe Photoshop.

It is original and my edited TIM:

Now i want to put my edited TIM to MediEvil. Did i do something wrong? How can i repair this and replace TIM in rom corectly?

Why would you use SnesEdit anyway? It's an ancient piece of software, totally not suitable for newer operating systems such as Vista and Seven.

What should i use? And how can i insert edited TIM to MediEvil without errors?

I am using SnesEdit. I'll check this psx-mode.

This is runtime error. Do you know why i have it in snesedit?

Usage: psx-mode2 example.iso \EXAMPLE\EXAMPLE.TIM new_tim.TIM
I don't get it ; /

I have this error in psx-mode2. How could i do it right?
