That OB randomizer seems interesting! I'd love to see more OB hacks and similar things out there! :D

This is really cool! It's exciting to see PCE translations being worked on. I played this game last month in Japanese. It was fun, but it was hard figuring things out with Japanese text. I'll give this a try soon! :D

The link for the disassembly is broken. Does anyone still have access to it?

Gaming Discussion / Bushi Seiryuuden translation freeze
« on: March 20, 2021, 01:31:00 am »
I was playing Bushi Seiryuuden with Tom and DDS's translation and the game froze after crossing the bridge to the north of where you fight the Demon Mushroom. I was playing the game on my SD2SNES, and when I loaded my save on SNES9X, it worked fine. There's a cutscene during the transition, then chapter 2 starts normally. On the SD2SNES, it freezes before the cutscene.

The freeze doesn't happen before chapters 3 or 4, so it seems to be something specific to that part. I haven't beaten the game yet, so there's still chance it'll freeze again at some other point, but so far the translation is top notch quality, outside that one problem.

I sent Tom a private message on RHDN forums, but he hasn't been active here for like two weeks, so I don't know how long it'll take him to read it. Maybe someone here can contact him outside these forums and let him know about the bug more quickly. Also, I don't know if him or DDS will keep supporting the patch, but I still thought it'd be good to let people know.

Oh that's nasty D:  Is that a bug in the translation or was that in the original game?
Am I supposed to use save states instead of using the game save system?

I wanna give this game another shot, I just want to know how to not lose my progress again

Gaming Discussion / Help with GB Heracles no Eikou

I've been playing Herakles no Eikou on my Gameboy everdrive and I ran into a weird problem. I got killed in the first tower of the game and got sent back to the first town. I saved my game and turned it off. However, when I got back to it, I couldn't open the door leading to the tower I died on, because I didn't have the key that opens that door. It was then that I realized my 2 key items were gone, both the key and something else I got from the tower. I have no idea how to proceed now. Has anyone run into that problem? Any ideas that could help me?

This looks really good! I'll be sure to look at it. Maybe I'll find out things I never knew about the game.

It'd be amazing if other lesser-known RPGs had guides like this too.

That's awesome! I was looking forward to playing this game in English! Thank you Nightcrawler, and all your team, for your hard work :D

Awesome! I've been looking forward to this for a long time! Is this game compatible with SD2SNES?

ROM Hacking Discussion / Re: Breath of Fire II - What Would You Change?

My biggest issue with the game is how hard it is to run from encounters. It's ridiculous, specially considering how high the encounter rate is. So changing that would definitely be on the top of my list. My second biggest issue is how your transformations get undone after every single cutscene and how annoying it is to get them back.

Wasn't Exile for TGCD that one almost impossible game because the stats of enemies later in the game scaled up ridiculously because they didn't test the game before releasing it?

I've beaten Vay a few years ago. The difficulty was really bullshit and the game ended up not being fun at all... the MP cost for spells really bothered me. This patch should make things more interesting :D

I've been looking forward to this for a long time! Congratulations on everyone involved in this project!

Awesome!!! Thanks for the Christmas present! It's the best one I've received this year! :D

Sorry for reviving this old topic, but I'd like to report an issue.
I was playing this game on my SDSNES and the game froze several times on the world map:
1) Opening the menu, saving and going back to the world map (doesn't happen very often);
2) Changing the party leader by pressing start (happens all the time).
3) Trying to use the magic carpet (99% of the time).

I managed to get to the part where you get the magic carpet even with the first two issues, but since now I need to use the magic carpet to proceed, I'm pretty much stuck... Can anyone help me with this?

Nice to see this, it would be cool to see other PC-88 games translated! *choughXZRcough*

It's awesome to see the PC-88 getting some attention. There are so many incredible games for old Japanese computers that need to be translated!

I'm really excited about this project. This game is really interesting and I'm looking forward to playing it :)

Nah, it's cool. I just thought it was an original feature of the game. I opened the debug menu because I like exploring games to the fullest, but I had no idea that would happen as a consequence.
I found out about the debug menu at gamefaqs while looking for information on what does the "POINT" stat does. (Btw, I still don't really know what it does... maybe it's involved with how many times you can attack an enemy?)

Hi guys, I have a doubt about Emerald Dragon for SNES. I've been playing it for a while and it's pretty fun! :)
I've come across a situation when I try to run away from a battle, a text box appears and it gives me two choices. The first one allows me to run away normally and the second makes all enemies disappear, and I get the EXP and gold, as if I beat all the enemies. The problem is that the text and the options are gibberish, so I have no idea what's going on.
Now that option stopped appearing and I have no idea why. I thought maybe it was because I was fighting stronger enemies, but it won't work even with weaker enemies. Does anyone know what are those options and how to make them available? Maybe the people who translated the game would know.

EDIT: I've found out! That option triggers when you've opened the debug menu for the first time (Hold Start, then press R + L). The effect will run out when you restart the game. Too bad, I thought it was just like Earthbound, where when you get too strong, you can just beat enemies without fighting them in battle. :|
