Title: Galerians (Restoration + Translation)

Hi. I'd like to make an uncut version of Galerians for PSX and translate it into Italian.
I'm a newbie, that's why I'm looking for any help.

Things to do:
[Remove censorship]
All drugs are referred to as PPECs (stupid censorship cos it's a great reference to MKOften Project)
and Rion is 14yo and not 16.

[Translation]
DISPLAY.CDB contains almost whole text, but something is missing from it.

[Original music]
Restore original japanese song played during end credits.

And what have you done so far? Do you have any experience with ROM hacking? Are you aware of anyone having done work on this game before?

PSX translations are not especially common due to the complexity involved. There was a decent overview in this recent thread:

An English version of the retranslation would certainly be welcome. Had no idea there was censorship, but it does make sense.

I contacted the fan translator who did the Italian patch (I found him here, btw his patch is not present on Galerian's page, it is on YT), so I should help fixing his translation and all the stuff which I listed in this post. :)

The repo contains a tool for extracting and creating cdb files, as well as another archive format found in the game. More importantly, it also contains a decompressor and compressor for the items images which contain their description.

Compiled executables are not provided but you should be able to compile them with visual studio community.

Same as phoenix but i think the compressor is not as optimized as phoenix but it works very well.

As you know, this game has a lot of duplicate and unused files, you can simply remove them, to save more space in the .cdb file
a Brazilian version is on the way, i remapped the font to the prototype font, which is much more eye friendly.
