A little thing I want to try is to edit the US version of Alundra to restore the enemy stats from the Japanese one. Alundra's enemies were (most of the time) made more difficult when it was being localised.
However, how to even extract the files from the .bin? You can open, view and copy the files when the bin is mounted through an iso tool, but there's no way to change them.

There was someone mentioning a tool to unpack/pack everything here: https://forum.xentax.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=2762&sid=f1925dc9398518879e2028bd4d43e135

Strange, I heard that the opposite was the case.
Also IIRC in regards to what I have heard about the japanese version, the bosses after the final dream sequence, had low attack power, but ludicrous amount of HP.

There is a hack called "Alundra un-working designs" or "un-worked design" to be found online, which
restores the enemy HP from the japanese version.
Hope this is helpful.

Wasn't this done already?

Probably even on this very website. ;)

Indeed yes.
This project has already been accomplished. A patch can be found here;
https://www.romhacking.net/forum/index.php?topic=23436.0
It was made a few years ago by the user "Supper". I've personal tested this patch and can verify that it works as intended and IMHO improves the game a great deal.

That's so awesome! I've never (fully) played Alundra before, and I really felt like I should go with the JP version if possible. Thanks a lot Supper!

Yeah, I don't know what's going on there. To this day, localizers keep insisting they simply made the game easier by decreasing boss HP for the most part. However, according to TCRF (besides people's personal experiences), almost all enemies got INCREASED HP instead.

Only two enemies got their HP decreased.
This Alundra patch hasn't been uploaded to RHDN's hacks section. I also found a Landstalker controls patch by MIJET (was hard to find). MagicianLord's edited version of said patch is broken. Can I get permission to upload Supper's and MIJET's work to the hack database? It makes these things so much easier to find, and I'd say they're well worth making use of.

That's because the patch is to big for RHDN. The download is a link embedded in the game title;

Still, though. I've uploaded a hack page and simply linked to a Google Drive thingy. It will make stuff easier to find for people.

Thanks for notifying me of this, I had no idea a control patch for Landstalker was available. I would love to get it if possible.

I already forgot where I even found it. I'd gladly upload it if that's allowed. If not, I'll just send a pm.

Thank you :beer:

Oh, apparently someone else already uploaded the MIJET Landstalker controls patch? I uploaded it, but it was taken off again since it suddenly exists in RHDN's hack section. I mean, the uploader didn't really test it in full (which I did over the course of a week to make sure it's a 100% working patch), nor did they insert MIJET as the author...
Dunno, feels kinda sucky, but I don't know if I should feel that way. Guess it's that, plus the heavy consideration I did before uploading someone else's stuff, only to see someone just dump it on here.

PM me about that.
