Title: Street Fighter 2 Remaster
Post by: Cross313 on August 03, 2020, 03:15:57 pm
Good day all.

New to this scene, and I am trying to patch my copy of SF2 SCE to the recent released Pyron patch.

I have a dump of my cartridge that I made today, and confirmed it worked on an emulator.
Patched the .bin file using https://www.marcrobledo.com/RomPatcher.js/
Fixed the checksum using ESE

The rom will load with the initial splash screen of Bison, then when you hit start it's a red screen. Which from my understanding reflects a checksum error?

Any ideas how to resolve this problem?

Try a different base ROM, the info on RHDN is often wrong more times then it's right, especially if you go by those CRC32's to try and confirm you did things proper.

Did you google/duckduckgo for "Street Fighter II' - Special Champion Edition (U) [f1]" exactly?

Also post a picture of your cartridge I wanna see it.

I did.

How To
1- Download and install an IPS patcher like this (Lunar IPS also works): http://home.arcor.de/minako.aino/ipsXP/
2- Download and extract the patch from one of the links in the Completed Hacks section below.
3- Now just double-click on the IPS patch (hack), ips XP will start automatically and ask you to select the file (ROM) where you want to apply the patch.
4- Use the ROM file with the exact same name found in the "ROM Info" section of the game hack's page of romhacking.net.
5- If you want to avoid red screens (especially on real hardware) you must fix the checksum of the ROM after applying the patch.
We recommend this easy-to-use utility: http://www.romhacking.net/utilities/342/

1) I've also tried Lunar IPS, same results.
2) Downloaded from: https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/5273/
3) Patched rom.
4) Database match: Street Fighter II' - Special Champion Edition (U) [f1]
 - Used this name, and also got same results with the red screen.
5) Did this after patching as well.

Did I do anything wrong?

I did not Google that no, I copy/pasted from RHDN.

[EDIT] Also, finally found the rom with the name above and was able to get this to work. I am curious though on why it worked and not a dump from my cartridge.
