Title: Change SMAS into SMB2U
Post by: NesDraug on September 06, 2019, 07:25:23 am
Does anybody know if there's some way to extract SMB2USA from Super Mario All-Stars to create a standalone game without the menus and intro?

Just boot directly into the game instead of the menus and intro. There are many of these kinds of hacks out there for collection games. I'm not sure if there is one for this game, but it shouldn't be hard to create it if you can't find it.

Any ideas how to boot directly into the game?

If there is an address with a screen number, try to change it before the game reads it

The problem is that SMAS has the file select before booting the respective game

I have this on my ungodly old notes from when I was working on SMAS.

I happen to have an IPS patch that somebody had made for me, when I requested this about 1-2 years ago.

All of 'em? I can do one at a time. With my pace I'll be finished by 2030.

Yeah, I can see patches like that being useful for people.

I will add to this, the patch that I have essentially removes ALL the other game's data, if I'm remembering correctly. Obviously there's still some there, but I removed all the other graphics that I could find that weren't SMB2 related.

It's definitely possible with the others and not terribly difficult, but I'm not willing to put my time into it. SMB2 was the only one that I wanted to work with out of the bunch.

Though, I think this patch does have some bugs in it, fairly certain anyway. I never actually fully played through to test, I just kind of did a first couple levels run and let that be it.

You don't nee to remove the excess data. Those Konami compilation on gameboy don't remove excess data. But if you can. Make it so you can remove access to the title and game select screen.

I don't know if you know how to change it so you can still access a save option somehow. Would be nice if it were possible to do tho.
