Those are fantastic!!
Having an Alpha version of street fighter 1 has been a pipe dream of mine for years.
I know there are some MUGEN projects that remake SF1, but they use the original graphics.
Damn! I wish I know how to use MUGEN right now.

i love the new style, this wll be good for new remake sf 1, along with updated movelist, stage layout, and add super combos at least one or two, then it will be hit !

Damn me for being a "kinda" purist, but I think SF1 The Good Edition shouldn't have supers... yet I know if Capcom EVER did a SF1 remake, they would add supers.

Honestly, I don't think it really matters if they have supers or not. I would be okay with either. I think if they don't have them though, that their specials should do more damage or they could have V-ism mode or something.

On the subject of supers, they should be optional.
On the subject of new moves...

Lee should take some queues from Yun and Yang since they are his vrandkids or something.

Mike should definitely be similar to Balrog/Boxer.

And Retsu shouldn't have any specials as per his lore.

What I would do with Retsu is expand his command attacks so that be has a different normal for every direction you can press.
Every button on the ground and while crouching would have a different move for forward, neutral, and back.
Every button in the air would have a different move for up, neutral, down.
Of course some would be semi-specials like Dhalsim's drill moves or Ryu's overhead punch.
Hell come to think of it if you really want him to have command moves they could be like Ken's special kick moves in Super Turbo.

Those mocks look great!!

I'm not suggesting that the characters take moves from other characters directly, but moreso that they suggest a relation to those other characters and maybe show a sort of progression in fighting style.

Consider that some of these characters already have established lore and maybe take that into consideration.

As for Retsu having every command normal possible, its a combination of his lore and tge idea that it hasn't ever really been done to that extreme before so he would be very unique especially if you give him a v-ism/custom combo type of super.
Hell, that would make him even more unique for being the only character with a super, but no specials.
It would be kinda like how Sean doesn't have a normal hadouken, but he does have a super one.
That basically all my thoughts on the whole thing with Retsu.

Nice, here's what I was thinking:

Mike - A cross between Balrog and Yamazaki. Yamazaki's serpent slashes with Balrog's dashing punches and a move like Cody's where he can lean out of the way. A more toe to toe version of Balrog.
Lee - A crazy drunk character who likes to jump and roll around. He has a dashing punch like Terry Bogard and a flying kick like Kim Dragon from World Heroe's. He can also do a rolling punch as a counter move and a move like the one Gambit has where he can bounce off walls.
Retsu - A counter based character with no projectiles or shotokan type moves. He has defensive counters for strikes and a rush punch like Gouken's to counter projectiles. He should NOT have any fire balls or hurricane kicks or dragon punches. We have too many of those already.
Geki - Strider's punches and Guy's kicks. He can also teleport and throw stars, sort of like Rolento's stinger move and he has a grapple move and a move where he can rush forward and do a jumping kick.
Joe - Sort of like Dee Jay but with no projectile.

But I want to try and make them their own character. I really don't want Retsu to be another shotokan or Lee to be a head swap of Gen and/or Yun/Yang.

On the topic of dream Mugen stuff, I'd like to see the roster of Alpha 3 Upper and some Street Fighter 3 characters added in the Alpha art style (Alex, Makoto, Dudley, Yang, Yun and Ibuki).

Yeah, my ultimate goal is to see SF1 finally remade. But if we can't have that just yet, maybe SFA3 with a few extra characters would be good. I mentioned the idea of a SF1 remake a while back and some loved it, and some said exactly what you did about just adding them to the Alpha 3 roster. Honestly, as long as they can give them a good stage (preferably an update to their SF1 stages) I'd be okay with that.

I know Yun was in Capcom vs SNK and one of the SFA3 games so he and Yang would be easy to add. And then we had Eagle in one of those games. So we could theoretically have Yun, Yang, Eagle, Lee, and Joe now. Also, there's Maki.

Eagle was Capcom vs SNK.
Really nice sprites, but like Ryu, Ken, and Bison, they were in a slightly different style. Similar to Alpha but more stiff/"mature" if that makes any sense.

There are already a couple of SF1 remakes for MUGEN, but they stick to the original graphics mostly.
My favorite one so far is the one that has Cody as secret character that can only be accessed via random select. An updated version of that with new graphics would be good enough to satisfy me since it has all the bells and whistles already.

I know Eagle debuted in Capcom vs SNK 2, but I remember very distinctively that he was also in a version of Street Fighter Alpha 3. I don't think they redrew him, they just cut and pasted him from Capcom vs SNK. Not sure what people thought about him and Maki being in that game:

I think so. People were saying they were over sized and I could see Maki and Yun being too big for the game. Idk, maybe Maki is big like Hulk Hogan's daughter Brooke? Also I remember seeing a little bit of debate over Eagle and whether or not he was too big for the game. He was the same size as Ryu in SF1, but people were saying, maybe he's just tall? He's still shorter than Sagat, so maybe Eagle was around 6'8"?  Seems like of the CVS characters copied and pasted, he was the most believable.

My only suggestion is to always make sure if you reuse any effects or graphics from other games that you treat them as a base and heavily edit them until they are mostly if not totally unrecognizable.
However, you're already doing that pretty damn well. :D

Well thanks dudes. Some more progress on Geki. Next step is to finish the shoes, then edit the shirt and add the net thing under his shirt, and then edit the belt. Hopefully he won't ta,ke much longer.

Coming along great as usual!

Here's my critique:

Tripped/Falling animation - In the initial frame his right leg is up higher than his left leg is, but in the next frame his right leg is positioned lower and then is higher again in the 3rd frame. This might make for a jarring/silly look with his leg flicking up and down.
Suggestion: either lower the right leg in the first frame, or raise it in the second frame for a more consistent animation.

Smoke Bomb - The effect seems like its way too big is all.

Everything else is pretty much great.
In particular I have to call out the command for the vertical shuriken throw. I really like this combination of command and special move. It's pretty unique and I think it would make him feel very interesting to play as.

In the original game Geki also has triple shuriken moves. If you want to keep those moves more traditional they could have the same commands as the normal moves, but instead you have to press all 3 buttons and they should probably use medium speed.

Ok, I will have to test that tripping animation to see what I can do. I just have to see it moving.

Yeah, I didn't like how big the smoke bomb animation was either, but haven't found any other smoke sprites I could use. I was wanting to use Ibuki's, but couldn't find a sprite sheet of her. I also saw that Demitri has a fire animation that could be recolored.

Were the triple shurikens that Geki had in the original game just downward, or did he throw them horizontally too?

I just looked at the getting knocked down animation, and I think I may just leave out the 2nd frame. Funny thing is, I added the first frame at the last minute for nostalgia, because that was from his first sprite sheet, just recolored.

The triple shuriken is both for the vertical version and the horizontal version.
I'm pretty sure that the horizontal one is 3 shuriken thrown one after the other.
Not sure how the vertical one is, let me check some play-throughs...
...OK! The vertical triple shuriken throws 3 in a very narrow spread from the middle angle.

Trying to figure out how to do the Shuriken throw move. For the jumping version, I was going to have it be thrown at different angles, depending on the button pressed, and maybe for the super have him throw 3. For the ground version, I was going to do the same thing.

OR

He could just throw 3 of them for both the jumping and ground versions. Then, depending on the strength of the button, he could throw either 1 set of 3 (Light Version), 2 sets of 3 (Middle Version), or 3 sets of 3 (Heavy Version).

Shuriken Barrage Ground: (B),F,B,F+PPP [3 consecutive narrow spreads of 3 shuriken each, 9 total, HP speed]

Shuriken Barrage Air: (DB),DF,DB,UF+PPP [3 Consecutive narrow spreads of 3 shuriken each, 9 total, MP angle, HP speed]

Love the new smoke graphics!
I did notice a tiny bit of inconsistency in the animation when he reaches for and throws down the kemuri dama.
It's the edges of his gi that are a bit out of wack.
After the first frame, the left side of his gi is drawn overlapping the right and I think it's supposed to be the other way in order to be consistent with the rest of his animations throughout the sheet.
Actually now that I had a quick glance, there are a couple of spots where his gi swaps overlaps.

Great work on this, tho! I;m drooling for that SFA style remake of SF1 now.

Once this dream comes true, I might seriously consider working on another idea I had for prequel to SF. ;)

Woo! Finally got all of the original sprites finished. All that's left are the crouching and jumping heavy punches, and the throw, and he is 100%. Tried to fix the gi as well, so that there is consistency:

Idk if I will have time to make Retsu, but I would like to finish him. Just in case I'm not able to for some reason though, there was a gentleman named Lassard that actually made him. Even though I don't agree with all of the choices for the specials, I will say he looks very well done:

I rememberes thag hsien ko is using a shuriken projectile.

I think Geki is pretty unique in fighting style to begin with compared to most other characters and definitely when compared to Strider/Guy/Ibuki+Vega, and you did a great job of preserving and enhancing that.

Interesting ideas. I was thinking of giving him the Wolverine sprite you mentioned... maybe I still will. Swapping the knife for a dagger might work too. I liked the Ibuki smoke effects and wanted to use them, but I couldn't find sprite rips of them any where. The specials and supers you mentioned for her are good too, I just don't have the sprites. The intro for the Silver Samurai would be cool too.

Alright people, I'm out. Just saw that someone had one of my topics deleted and I thought I escaped from that after I left Mugen Guild. But if that's how it's going to be here, then I'm gone. To the person who had it deleted, if that makes you feel better, glad I was able to give that to you. But I have enough problems already in real life and don't need any more drama, especially petty, online, Big-Bang-Theory-type drama.

Sorry to here that happened. Hopefully someone will shed some light on why that happened because this is a really good site and there normally isn’t any major issues.
