Title: Kirby's Adventure ROM Hack Help
Post by: rawrbirdo on August 07, 2018, 01:34:05 am
Hey everyone so I just started working on a ROM hack for Kirby's Adventure and needed help. I want to make it so when Kirby gets hit he doesn't lose his ability but I don't know how to change that. I know the hex-address for the abilities and am able to change them but that't it. It would be greatly appreciated if someone could help me! Thanks in advance!

Could you...
1) Use a debugger to set a breakpoint on when your offsets are used, step into that code, analyze how it works, and revise the ASM code accordingly?
2) Use a debugger to play through to the point where Kirby has a power up but is about to take a hit, set up a trace log to trace the code that runs when he's hit, then read the code for the routine, looking for those offsets you know as a guide?  Then revise the ASM code accordingly?

I am still new to the rom hacking scene so when I tried your suggestion I wasn't too sure what I was looking at. I didn't notice anything changing in the trace logger that comes with fceux.
