Title: PCSX2 stuck at select language screen (yes, I already "Googled" it).
Post by: NERV Agent on June 25, 2018, 05:57:30 am
I've installed PCSX2 1.4.0 on Ubuntu Linux 16.04 LTS, and I am stuck at a select language screen. It doesn't matter how many times I mash the "X" button like it requests, it's just stuck there. It definitely detects my gamepad and I have it configured.

I've scoured Google and YouTube, and found NO solution to this. What I did find were posts on the PCSX2 forums with poor schmucks who had the same problem, only to receive dick responses containing no solutions from other people acting like dicks.

How do I get past this screen? Right now I'm so frustrated that I'm about ready to do what Natsuki is doing in my avatar.

Iv'e got my dads laptop running Ubuntu, I'll check it out.
Nevermind, He's lost the password already. :banghead:

It just seems weird that such a basic function of the emulator could be borked and nobody moved to fix it, have you checked to see if the bug happens in any older versions?

Look for an older version of it. PCSX2 has become more demanding and buggier with each update.

What? I'm using a fairly recent dev build and I have no problems.

I recently tried to play FFX:I and got crashing in the intro.
Whereas years ago I played halfway through no problem (other than slow cutscenes as I assume my PC wasn't fast enough). Hope it wasn't disc degrading sitting in the case aside from being taken out those two times to make ISOs.

I found the issue was with my adapter:

https://www.amazon.com/Trenro-Dual-PlayStation-Controller-Adapter-2/dp/B000F6BGXY/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1530610323&sr=8-10&keywords=ps2+controller+to+usb+adapter

For some reason, the first controller port is mapped as the second controller port, and vice versa.

So I selected the proper controller, and was able to play some Metal Gear Solid 2 on Linux PCSX2.
