Title: [PCE] Nazo no Masquerade

Hello,

It's a detective game from Masaya on HuCard. I extracted the script and the gfx some times ago. As I'm nearly done on some other projet, I decided to dust it off.
As far as I can tell, the first image may be the game name and the others may be chapter names

I'm back with the script for the introduction (link) (http://www.blockos.org/releases/pcengine/translation/Nazo%20no%20Masquerade/intro.xml). The lazy ones can find a video of the game intro here (http://www.blockos.org/releases/pcengine/translation/Nazo%20no%20Masquerade/intro.mp4).
I have extracted the whole script ages ago but I just realized that the XML is malformed :/

That night, strange men and women
gathered at the Legendary Mansion.

 この仮装舞踏会で、ごじぶんの<endl/>
 遺産相続人をはっぴょうなさるのかしら?」
"...Hey, grandfather. Are you really
planning on revealing your inheritor
at this masquerade ball?"

 それにしても、金もちの気まぐれには、<endl/>
 まったく、つきあいきれないぜ。<endl/>
 俺たちに、こんなかっこうまでさせてさ...」
"...Yes, it seems like he does.
At any rate, I can't stand the
whimsy of the rich. I mean seriously,
making us wear such weird costumes..."

 まずは、その前に かんぱいだ」
"Well, it seems that the time has
come for tell you who will inherit my riches, huh...?
But before that, let's have a toast."

「伝説館の夜に、かんぱい!!」<endl/>
「かんぱ~い!」
"To the night at the Legendary Mansion. Cheers!!"
"Cheers!"

「うっ....」
"Ugh..."

「ど、どうなさったの...あなた...」
"W-what's wrong, darling?"

「だんなさま...!!」
"Master...!!"

「きゃあ!! 死...死んで...いる...」
"Kyaah!! He...he's...dying..."

**Note: As I have not played this game, a few of these could be different. For instance, "Master...!!" could be "Honey...!!" (referring to someone's husband). Or the last one could be "I'm dying". Depends on context.

Yeah, I'd say it looks pretty good so far. Aside from what you already said, the font kinda reminds me of the one used on the SNES Clock Tower game. Kinda like a typewriter. Which seems fitting for the kind of game it is.

Hello! It has been a way too long time.
Here's a test for the main menu. I didn't change the menu routine. The menu items are "hardcoded" into the font.

Unfortunately, "Partner" and "Interrogate" were too long and changed to "Buddy" and "Talk".
I don't know if they fit the game atmosphere.
I will try to remove the line space and put an item per line in order to have a more "formal" menu.

The translated introduction text is roughly 400 bytes larger than the original one. Hence the rest is fubared for the moment.

I hope I got the list of "examinable" objects right.

I shortened いしだん to "Steps" and not "Stone steps" for size purposes.
どま and ふすま are just "romanized" because I could not find any suitable translation.
For example, there is a real doma in that bloody manor!

It's completely handmade from the roman characters of the original font.

A small update... I modified the introduction text to make it fit on 4 lines like the original.
I hope it's not completely "butchered".
