Title: More Game Center CX Help
Post by: DarknessSavior on October 02, 2012, 11:40:35 pm
I'm working on the Super Metroid three-parter this time. I finished the first part, but there's a few missing lines here or there that I could use some help with.

Video: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm11051140

2:38 - Whatever Arino says here. I have no idea.

5:50-5:55 - The first part is "Just getting out of the way is a handful." I get that. Then he says something about his remaining energy that I don't catch.

6:10 - Sounds like he says 「ちょっとぬぐはったで今」. Not quite sure.

7:17-7:19 - No idea what Arino says here.

9:47 - The first part is "The bosses movement becomes much faster than before, but", and then it SOUNDS like 「このスタイルをツランク」. It's that last word that I'm missing here.

13:05 - No idea what he says there. It's really fast.

13:42-13:46 - No clue. I hear some onomatpoeia at the end that I don't recognize.

14:28 - More onomatopoeia stuffs that I don't understand.

14:33-14:35 - こっからは___?

15:54-15:56 - Something about the boss. The name I get, but the first part sounds like 「あどんさりする」 to me, which is nonsense, I think. So obviously I'm wrong.

16:38-16:40 - Arino says something really fast here as he's shoved into the wall.

Only nine lines. More than before, but still not a lot considering there's almost 300 total.

I'd appreciate any help I can get with this. I'd like to finish this up and post it on YouTube as soon as I can.

Thanks guys!

I can't help you with the Japanese, but I can at least point out some errors in the English (although I'm certain you were just writing fast)

9:47 - The first part is "The bosses movement becomes much faster than before, but", and then it SOUNDS like 「このスタイルをツランク」. It's that last word that I'm missing here.

"The bosses movement becomes much faster than before, but" should be "The boss's movement became much faster than before, but"

Tsuranku? => Tlank? Tulank?

Google Search results for Tulank (http://www.google.com/search?q=Tlank&oq=Tlank&sugexp=chrome,mod=7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#hl=en&sclient=psy-ab&q=Tulank&oq=Tulank&gs_l=serp.3..0j0i30j0i5i30l2.2658.5492.0.5805.9.9.0.0.0.0.107.765.8j1.9.0.les%3Bepsugrpq1..0.0...1.1.8naNz--bO4g&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&fp=190c3c85d32a41e8&biw=1138&bih=332), but it doesn't seem like what you're looking for...

I don't have the time to watch it right now so I'm just guessing, but it might be 貫く(つらぬく).

2:38 - Whatever Arino says here. I have no idea.

The last part sounds like, あ、いた、いた ("There he is.")

Quote
5:50-5:55 - The first part is "Just getting out of the way is a handful." I get that. Then he says something about his remaining energy that I don't catch.

Announcer: あっという間にエネルギーが…
Arino: え?エネルギーがなくな(った)!

Quote
6:10 - Sounds like he says 「ちょっとぬぐはったで今」. Not quite sure.

I think it's ちょうど and not ちょっと, but I still can't get what he's saying.

Quote
9:47 - The first part is "The bosses movement becomes much faster than before, but", and then it SOUNDS like 「このスタイルをツランク」. It's that last word that I'm missing here.

このスタイルを貫く(つらぬく)。 (Literally, "He can pierce through the boss's style/pattern.")

Quote
13:05 - No idea what he says there. It's really fast.

I think he's just saying like "Woah woah woah!"

Quote
13:42-13:46 - No clue. I hear some onomatpoeia at the end that I don't recognize.

He says something like, "As soon as I go in (the room), (the doors) are all like, 'swoosh'."

Quote
14:28 - More onomatopoeia stuffs that I don't understand.

Sounds something like, ドガーンって行きおんや。 ("I'm just like plowing through (this game)!")

Quote
15:54-15:56 - Something about the boss. The name I get, but the first part sounds like 「あどんさりする」 to me, which is nonsense, I think. So obviously I'm wrong.

後ずさりするコロックマイアー ("Crocomire edges back.")

Quote
16:38-16:40 - Arino says something really fast here as he's shoved into the wall.

Sounds like he's stuttering the word 刺さった ("I got jabbed.")

13:05 - お…おちゃおちゃおちゃ…おほほほほ、やりました

13:42-13:46 - sounds like 入った、突端にさ…ツアーとさ…

edit because ahhh ninja

脱がはったで

According to my Osaka dialect dictionary, using the verb suffix "haru" is the equivalent of "rareru."
"Got my clothes taken off."

Thanks for all the help, guys!

@Paul Jensen: The one you've got for the first one seems wrong. Ridley has just flown off, and it doesn't sound right. Also, for 13:42-13:46 can you transcribe the Japanese so I can see it? For 14:28, what does the (what I assume is) Kansai/Osaka dialect stuff there (行きおん) mean in standard Japanese?

@BRP: Does ツアー have a meaning as an onomatopoeia, or is it just "tour"? What you said sounds correct, but I'm unsure how to translate that word.

@Tom: Is there a decent resource for that kinda thing online? I'd like to take the time to learn a bunch more of that. Given the project, it'd help immensely. I mean, I lived in Kansai for a year, but no one ever spoke full-on Kansai-ben around me so I only picked up things here and there.

Also, I didn't see two extra missed lines. I crossed out all of the ones I've put into the subtitles so far, and bolded the two new ones so that they're easier to make out in the list.

Thanks again guys!

It’s not a codified gi*go to my knowledge, but I believe that is intended to mimic a scifi door sliding (trivia: part of the Star Trek door sound is actually the sound of paper on paper action—oh my!).

14:33 - 心は小康。B。

I thought he said 持って行かれた. (It got taken away. / He got away with it.) ["It" being the baby metroid, obviously.]

Not as far as I know. I just bought one. You live in Japan, right? It shouldn't be hard to find one at a nearby bookstore. The one I got was only a thousand yen. It's not entirely comprehensive, but it's better than nothing.

Thanks again for the lines, guys!

Nope, I'm back in the states. *looks at this profile* Oh. I never changed that back. >_>

I can, however, order books from Amazon Japan. Maybe I'll find something worthwhile on there. Thanks!

I prefer honto (http://honto.jp/) over amazon.co.jp for importing books because they don't have "handling fees". The last time I ordered from amazon.co.jp, (okay, that was like 8 years ago, but I don't think it has changed since then) each book cost an additional 200 or 300 Yen just because I wasn't in Japan (this doesn't even include shipping yet).

I heard recently that Amazon Japan was a great resource for books. I'm not sure if my prime shipping or anything will affect that (since it's a different country). But I'll definitely look into the other place you mentioned.

Now we're down to two lines left, guys. The one at 7:17 and 14:28.

Thanks again guys!

For 14:28, what does the (what I assume is) Kansai/Osaka dialect stuff there (行きおん) mean in standard Japanese?

In the scene with Ridley at the beginning, Ridley flies off the screen with the baby metroid, and Arino says something like ちゅちゃ, which I'm guessing is just like "woah, woah". When Ridley zooms in and "out" of the screen, he says あ、いたいた "There he is". The announcer says ここで緊急事態発令 "An emergency warning appears". And then, yeah, Arino says 持って行かれた, or basically "He took off with the metroid".

行きおんでや is regional for 行ってるんだよ. Kansai uses this, and so does Hiroshima, where I live (minus the でや).

I had my wife listen to 14:33. It's こっから押しとこう。ピー。"I'm gonna start holding the button here". ピー is probably the sound of pushing a button. Or, he might be saying "B" since it's a B dash.

My wife listened to 7:17 a few times, too. She couldn't make out the first word, but she's pretty sure it's just some sort of ad-libbed onomatopoeia. So anyway, he says something like テベデーって来るで "that thing just like swoops in", referring to the monster coming down from the ceiling.

By the way, if you want to learn about Japanese dialects, you might want to check out this book (http://www.amazon.co.jp/Languages-Japan-Cambridge-Language-Surveys/dp/0521369185). I haven't gotten a copy of it yet myself, but I've seen it referred to in lots of academic papers, and I hear it's one of the best books on the subject.

Thank you! A thousand times, thank you. Now it's ready to be posted. I watched it once more and did a little editing. Now I just gotta apply the subs and upload it to YouTube. :D

And I favorited the book, so I can buy it when I have money ($60!? Jeez).

Hey~

It looked like these last two hadn't been answered so i figured I'd take a shot. Sorry if this is old or late.

7:17-7:19 - No idea what Arino says here.

This one is really hard... seems like he bumped his mic or something while we was jumping around, heh.
Anyway, sounds like: ビビビーと来るで
I listened to it about a 40 times and don't have the utmost confidence.. but a nearby Japanese native feels pretty strongly that's what it is.
So yeah, just onomatopoeia for shocking as he's advancing on the jumper. "Gonna shock ya!" or "Here I come to shock ya!" or something of that nature maybe.

14:28 - More onomatopoeia stuffs that I don't understand.

This one is wicked Osaka-ben. Had to confirm again with a native to get the spelling as I've never needed to type this before, heh.
ドカァーンと、いきよんねや
which would be more like 「ドカーンと行ったね」in regular Japanese.
So something like "I flew through there like Boom!" or "Boom! I went right in there!" or (perharps more naturally) "I flew through there like a freakin' rocket ship" or something like that maybe.

Not sure if that was what you were looking for or if you even need it anymore but if you still do, hope those help. Thanks for letting me have a try.

edit: blah. way too late. sorry, heh.

Nowhere on wikipedia does it say that. At least, not the English wikipedia.
