Post by: Basilisk on January 08, 2012, 11:28:30 AM
Hi everyone!!, I'm starting in this world of Romhacking, i decide translate to Spanish a game called Deja vu Nes, the problem is: When I try to search the hex values to make a table, i cant find anything, i used Search RX and WindHex, search Rx can't find anything and WindHex show a lot of values, i try all of them and nothing. Can anyone tell me whats the problem?

I recommend trying the relative search program Monkey Moore. It's far more efficient than any others.

Start there, and you may find what you're looking for.

I do recall somebody asking about Uninvited before and it was determined that game was compressed.
Since I'm guessing this game was probably made on a similar if not the same engine, the might be a possibility if relative searching doesn't turn up useful results.

If that does turn out to be the case, cracking compression is a far more advanced skill than relative searching, however.

Yeah. The dialogue is compressed. Uses Huffman, if I recall correctly. The inventory names however, are not.
