Quote from: tacoschip on May 06, 2023, 12:44:20 PMNES hardware allows 64 sprites = 32x2 fighters. Goro standing is 32 tiles so epic fail. Either taller or wider but not both.

For fighter select screen, only 1 fighter can be shown but I guess it could flip 1p-2p every few seconds. Still not an easy solution.

Ok master tacochip, Vasil managed to show the players on the player select screen in "Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3" for the NES. Here is the video with the download link:

I think you can watch it to see how he managed to do it in game

To summarize my deleted post:

1. UMK3 NES uses MMC5 (1+1 MB). Very good team. Techniques won't work because MK2 uses cursor sprites and UMK3 uses bg cursors (important difference of how the select screens are organized). It's actually writing all the new code that I'm not excited about.

2. Artist would have to fit all Goro frames within 32 sprites. If done though, someone could hack it in (just replacing tile #s).

3. Honestly after seeing the UMK3 NES hack, my motivation for romhacking is nearly dead. Most of my work is bugfixing, of which I have now lost most of my excitement. And interest in that is extremely low.

Other hackers would be better helping out.

tacoschip, I understand you perfectly, you have been an important part in the progress of this improvement, thank you very much for your contributions and collaboration. I will try to find more help so that all of us who have worked can have a breather. Thank you and a big hug my friend.   :)

Hello community, we have been busy with our personal lives. I wanted to share a test of the game, made by the friend @Lordzai who is also supporting the project. Remember that it is a demo, the project is still being worked on.

Congrats to @drax01 and his mates for such an awesome Mortal Kombat 2 hack. They are doing well so far. Too bad they are currently busy, but I hope they complete this wonderful hack as soon as possible. I really loved it. When it's complete, I'll be the first to download it.

Thanks my friend! Yes, unfortunately we have little time to do this work, but we have set ourselves the goal of releasing the rom this year. We don't want to do a long term project, so very soon you will have two mortal kombat to enjoy, if you don't know, we are also working on 1.

Right, without a doubt both Mortal Kombat hacks (which are actually titles for the Nintendo Entertainment System that were released without a license from Nintendo) really do have a lot going for them. That's why I'm going to download it when you guys have definitely completed your work.

I don't think you understood me, we are working on both versions of mortal kombat, one and two. You can see the forum of one here:

We have good news, thanks to Rkk we are getting a bigger Kintaro. The same will be done with Goro from our other project.
