SkyLizardGirl

A Completely new Ninja Turtles Nes hack based on the very first NES Ninja turtles side-scrolling Ninja Turtles game. Not the beat'em up arcade ones like Ninja turtles 2 or after etc.

This revision would add like 9 new Overworld Map Areas instead of just 5 from the old game where you still beat the technodrome and shredder at the end of course.
It would have bizarre new building layouts very high climbs in some areas and new Bosses etc. A much larger game than the Nes Turtles 1 NES original.

You can still switch between 4 turtles and collect more New powerups etc.

Hack using the Legacy Of Goku 2 game engine to remake the first game!

I've always dreamed someome would do this I think it would be pretty simple, instead of using and modifying legacy 1 which would be insanely difficult, instead take the already perfect legacy 2 engine and all you would have to do is change the graphics for the most part!

I think it would be good enough just to do that to start with, but to go above and beyond it would be awesome if...

There were 5 playable characters just like in 2, goku, Gohan, piccolo, vegeta and instead of Trunks use krillin!

Bruce falconer music appropriate for each saga just like in the other 2 games

To switch up some of the abilities for the characters like maybe Gohan has a giant ape power up or something

incorporate side quests with some of the first dbz movie bad guys just like they did in buus fury with Broly

Maybe even do certain side quests with different characters like playing as Roshi would be interesting

After the end of the Frieza saga maybe there's a hidden bonus ending where you can play as goku on yarddrat where he learns the instant transmission!

Emptyeye

One that's probably been suggested before.

A sprite hack of either Doki Doki Panic OR Super Mario Bros. 2. US replacing the playable characters with the girls from Doki Doki Literature Club (Specifically, Mario = Monika, Luigi = Yuri, Toad = Natsuki and Princess = Sayori).

Could also replace Wart with an evil MC, I guess.

Do you think it would be possible to make a 4 player doubles hack for Super Tennis? It only has option for 2 human players.

We have covered multiplayer hacks like this in the past and I am too bone idle to look up this game right now.

General approaches are

If it is normally sprites controlled by AI that would otherwise be on the screen then usually not so bad to subvert them to be controlled by human instead. Can be even easier to go from outside the emulator to control things as well or have some kind of quasi network setup but leave that for another discussion. That would then leave camera view angles as a potential problem if the other team are left with some small sprites and an odd angle.
For 4 player on systems without it (aka need a multitap or whatever the equivalent for the console was called) then you might also have to sort any initialisation and handling for that as well. If you can subvert controls for the 2 player scenario in a useful manner this is not going to be the hardest thing but it is an extra step to consider.
Whether you try to write your own handling code or try to use the existing one in the game (it might do acceleration and everything else quite nicely vs the naive approach).
If you can make a dent in it then it will be obvious but for the sake of it. The AI will move in response to the game's internal code, this will have an effect on the sprite location/type, being as the OAM is usually quite small it is then usually fairly obvious what is handling what, find what is changing that and you can then make it move in response to controller input.

If you would be adding sprites and such to the game that are not normally there (turning it into a co-op game for instance) then that gets far harder as you get to fit new graphics, behaviours, edge of screen handling ( https://docs.google.com/document/d/1iNSQIyNpVGHeak6isbP6AHdHD50gs8MNXF1GCf08efg/pub https://www.gamedeveloper.com/design/scroll-back-the-theory-and-practice-of-cameras-in-side-scrollers ), stats and whatever else into it, and possibly making the game harder to compensate.

I was wondering if someone could make a Hack of Streets of Rage 2 on Genesis but with the 5 Supermen sprites/actions from The Death and Return of Superman. That would be Superman, Cyborg Superman, Steel, Superboy, and the Eradicator.

There are tools for editing Streets of Rage, though you would likely have to redo moves and sprites for things not seen.
What we normally have to mention at this point is things like Streets of Rage Remake (SORR), Beats of Rage and various other remakes and engines that are far more amenable to custom works (doing it for the megadrive is going to take some not inconsiderable hacking skills, even with the existing tools and knowledge of the game, where one of those changes that to can possibly get away with only having art skills and any programming that ultimately is necessary is likely to be considerably higher level).

NES Boy

So, according to Masahiro Sakurai's retrospective on Kirby Super Star, Spring Breeze wasn't originally intended to feature Copy Abilities. Milky Way Wishes doesn't let Kirby gain Copy Abilities from eating enemies, so if that bit of code is present for Spring Breeze, we could experience it as originally intended.

While something you could do as a hack you might also be able to pull it off with cheats, especially if it is more for an "experience".

Chances are there is a cheat to change costume/state/powerup/whatever the cheat maker called it. Necessarily that will include the baseline costume*, or if another one is chosen for the stage then you could twist it to that.

*though some cheat makers in the past don't include it. If all the other costumes start with value 01 and go from there then try 00, or indeed if the last costume is a given number then try the one up from that (that is also how people discover play as boss, hidden/cut abilities and more besides).

If you did want to do it "properly" and hack the game then I would start by finding/making such a cheat. Whatever changes that when you do copy abilities will then be easy enough to find (break on write to that area, probably going to be in the instructions you see, or at least something you can NOP out to prevent the change) and edit accordingly.

Quote from: Brutapode89 on September 24, 2022, 05:37:57 PMI don't know if I'm wrong but do you think it's possible to replace original musics of the Final Fantasy VII PS1 version with these from Final Fantasy VII Remake?

Thanks for rephrasing.

Bakuretsu muteki bangai is a pretty unique n64 title, it only came out in japan on n64. Was wondering since no one else is asking, would anyone be interested in contributing to a translation/region mod for this game?  :cookie:

I've been doing my research apparently this game is more rare than ClayFighters: Sculptor's Cut, where as clay fighters printed off a total of 20,000 copies, this game was only released 10,000. No one is really talking about it, Infact the game is sold online for about $200, I'm pretty sure that wont last long once people realize how rare the game actually is.

In TMNT II The Arcade Game for the nes, the turtles walk pretty slow. It'd be cool if someone did a small hack to make the turtles walk fast like in the arcade version. 🙏

To add to it, it seems you can't hit foot soldiers consecutively as they have a second of invincibility in-between hits which can grant them a cheap shot at you. Someone needs to fix that if possible.

That'd be cool, too. It can be kinda like a Quality of Life hack.

You know, after hearing about the whole "Cranky Kong was the original DK in the old arcade" ever since the release of Donkey Kong Country, I had this weird silly idea that someone would mod the original game to have Cranky Kong in DK's role and the sequel having Cranky Kong or modern DK as the prisoner with Diddy in the Donkey Kong Jr. role.
