Quote from: Hamikon on January 11, 2022, 11:08:28 PMBut about the Red Slime, I still think that it should be "Beth" instead of "Bess", since "Beth" is a female name in English. And I think that's how the newer DQ localizations came up with the name "She-slime".
Quote from: Hamikon on January 11, 2022, 11:08:28 PM....But anyway, I think you guys should focus on other project instead. I really wanted to see a Delocalized version of Dragon Warrior IV!
Quote from: Chicken Knife on January 11, 2022, 11:46:44 PMWe feel that "Beth" is "too female" compared to the more gender-obscure "Besu", and we also feel like it sounds too much like a human name rather than an animal noun like "hen" or "sow", but nevertheless, I'd have taken "Beth" in the localizations over "Red" or "She"
Quote from: Chicken Knife on January 11, 2022, 11:46:44 PMBut in the meantime, we are getting close to wrapping up a surprise translation project for a non-DQ SNES game. Looking forward to that coming out in the next few weeks. And btw, congratulations on the release of your Indonesian translation! It's great to see people out there with the passion to make classic DQ accessible all over the world!
QuoteHiI've just downloaded all your translations. Inside the zip files there are multiple patchesDQ1-dq_delocalized_114.ips-dq_delocalized_NA_gfx_100.ips-dq_delocalized_NA_gfx_J_palettes_101.ipsDQ3-dq3_delocalized_104.ips-dq3_revert_to_localized_gold-xp.ipsDQM-DQM_Delocalized_Revert_Metal_XP.ips-DragonQuestMonsters_Delocalized_1.04.ipsShould I use all of them? Thanks in advance
Quote from: Chicken Knife on July 01, 2022, 01:01:12 PMPS,There are two other non-DQ projects we collaborated on that are more or less finished, but haven't been released yet for various reasons. Expect those soon.
Quote from: Chicken Knife on July 03, 2022, 09:12:56 AMThat description would qualify. The translation is done and implemented. We are just finishing a small testing exercise. It's actually going to come out in the form of an update to someone's existing improvement project because I didn't want to create a competing release that we'd have to keep updated. Look out for a news article in the very near future.
Quote from: lilpuddy31 on July 02, 2022, 03:32:41 AMI heard a rumor that you guys were retranslating a certain beloved SNES game, I'm hoping that's the one you're referring to... 😬😬😬😁
Quote from: nanashi89 on July 03, 2022, 04:41:26 PMWhat is the game you are hoping for?
Quote from: Bobza on July 03, 2022, 09:58:12 PMOn the 1.15 patch with Warrior names applied for DQ 1, is the title screen supposed to say "TRADEMARK OOFNINTENDO"?
Quote from: lilpuddy31 on July 03, 2022, 04:39:47 PMYup, I think we are talking about the same game! I've been waiting for this one....oh, and been waiting for DQ1+2 for snes too...
Quote from: Chicken Knife on July 04, 2022, 10:03:16 AMI just tested the 1.15 patch and didn't have this problem. I took a clean, original US ROM (not revision A), first applied the 1.15 delocalized patch, then applied the warrior spellnames patch, and I did not get this issue. I'm wondering if you either used the Rev A ROM or patched over a previous version, perhaps.
Quote from: midget35 on July 04, 2022, 04:32:19 PMThank you so much for all your translation efforts. Dare I ask - is a DQ6 translation on the radar? It seems rude to ask but man... been hoping for a full English version for years x
Quote from: Bobza on July 04, 2022, 07:13:26 PMThis is what I was thinking when I posted my question. I didn't ever remember seeing a revision to this before, so I didn't know if it was a true glitch or not before I tried again. Just tried another unspecified one at random, and now "TM TRADEMARK OF NINTENDO". Now I won't have to worry about any more unknown "glitches" in this. Thanks for the solution!
Quote from: Chicken Knife on July 04, 2022, 09:20:34 PMWell, I tried to explain above that we are prioritizing opportunities to partner with skilled technical people, which DQ6 would really need to finish off. We've done some basic hacking on our own, but nothing super demanding. As our reputation continues to grow with putting out high quality translations, we hope to attract skilled technical partners to collaborate with. The guy we are working with now is brilliant, but unfortunately, he only wants to work with Gameboy Color. Fingers crossed that a great partner appears at some point for these SNES games.Glad we got this cleared up!
Quote from: Choppasmith on July 06, 2022, 01:14:12 PMI caught some of those technical improvements on Twitter and it looks great. I'm just curious are you planning to do technical improvements to the other DQ titles on GB (DQ1+2 and DQM) or is it just DQ3 for now? I just figured since they're pretty much the same "engine" and if the Quest logo could be reintegrated back into DQ1+2 as well (last I remember it was discovered there's more to it than just swapping the Japanese tiles back in unless I missed an update)Excellent work friends!
