MORTAL KOMBAT II SPECIAL NES

Hello community, I found a mortal kombat 2 special nes, a long time ago I downloaded it and I don't remember who to give the credit to, excuse me, but it would be incredible to continue improving it.

- What's good, the selection screen is improved along with his music:



- correct the names of kintaro and shao kahn without crushing:

That's the problem: We don't know who to give credit. I would surely insert my work into that hack that somebody made. Without permission I wouldn't like to do anything.

Hi Shemigui, I did another search and I was able to download again, because of the name it has, which is "Mortal Kombat II Special (Unl) [!]_lomax edition+yur.nes" it must be for Lomax and yur, here in the profile from Lomax: https://www.romhacking.net/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=13476 it would be interesting to continue improving this game, I don't know if you dare to insert your work by talking to him. I already have progress, due to an error in my internet and browser it has remained as a response to what I wrote at the bottom, excuse me, my post will look good next time. I'm needing help with the music and some special features that he wants to do, like making the characters appear on the selection screen. The image below is illustrative, it has not yet been made.

- Regarding the szemigi hack I have changed the portraits for the improved ones from the second hack.

- The red rectangle that indicates the character I have removed the number that appears in the center of the portrait, which is a "1" and for the second player a "2".

- In the red rectangle it had an effect that changed between 3 all colors, it seemed annoying to me, I left the rectangle alone in a single intermittent tone.

I keep working on it in my free time, I leave you a gif of how the project is going.

Note: I am working on and learning about szemigi work, to whom I give mostly initial credit.

I have another advance, it is simple but I wanted to share it, I have designed the letters of the title of the screen, at once I share and make a summary.

So that you can compare, I show you the original port, the version by Szemigi (it's excellent) and the one we think may be by Lomax and Yur.

It has been difficult to frame several things since not everything is summed up in modifying sprites, for some things to work properly you have to modify the code, thanks to the explanation of Terwilf, who gave me tips with the hexcmp tool, as seen in the image below :



I have managed to get all the player names to be displayed properly, even "Shao Kahn" and "Kintaro" are no longer squashed, the color of the numbers are red and better definition in the game title.

These are custom features from the hack that we believe to be from "Lomax + Yur" that could have been imported into Szemigi's hack.

In order not to fill with so many images, I am going to show a before and now of how the hack is turning out:

An improvement has been achieved in the portraits by adding white brightness, Mileena is redrawn, it is possible to replicate the "Lomax + Yur" hack, the brightness of the mortal kombat shields that are in the upper corners of the screen.

In "mortal kombat 2 special of the nes" scorpion does not send the spear, he makes a power that he does not really have in the games, I made within the limitations of the game (To keep it in mind) that he throws a spear so that Be more like your counterpart.

Shang Tsung throws a flaming skull but in "Mortal Kombat 2 Special" from the nes it looks like he threw a stone:

The friend XandeR MaX helped me with the design of the power of the skull, it has been implemented and it has turned out great!!!, you can already see the skull wrapped in flames opening and closing its mouth.

In Szemigi's hack, I realized while testing the game that his hack had an error in the color palette of the "The Evil Tower" stage and I corrected the color palette to make it look good:
