Mild spoiler warning.

I really like the old font better. Any chance you could include an alt patch with the font you originally used?

The font isn't final. Due to the way that the game's menus are structured, including an alternate font is not impossible, but is a lot of added work. We'll see how it goes.

But thanks to Pennywise, the intro text boxes now work properly.

The updates look amazing as always. Also agree the old font looked better but this one is still good so there is no need to change it.

Thanks. Hopefully you're able to do it.

I feel that the problem for me is that the new font looks a bit cramped. Maybe the new font has the exact same dimensions as the old one, but in the new one the lower case letters look almost the same size as the upper case ones, they look thicker/chunkier, and the "curved" look kind of makes some words feel as if the letters are merging together.

Okay, this project is finally at a point where I need to start thinking about how I'm going to distribute it.

I know about using xdelta to create a patch, but I've never used it before, and the issue is that there seem to be multiple rips of this game floating around. The untranslated version I'm currently looking at came from "software[REDUMP] Disc Image Collection: SNK - Neo Geo CD updated 2021-06-13 (14-56-52)" on archive.org, and that one is in a format of 32 BIN files with a CUE. Now, I've built the translated ISO (track 1) I'm working with MagicISO. Should I put the files from the translation into that first data track and use THAT updated file as the basis for the patch? Is there a quality tutorial out there? Or maybe someone willing to help me get this going?

I don't have an answer to your question, but definitely use the most accurate and "proper" dump, which seems to be that redump file you mentioned.

Nowadays, disc dumps composed of .iso and music files are not considered "proper" and some modern emulators/frontends don't even like to load them if it's not in a bin/cue file format.

Thank you MoriyaMug, can't wait to play this one ^_^

In my opinion, CD patches should be compatible with the proper 1:1 RAW dumps, to ensure future compatibility.
If I understood correctly, you only edited the first data track, so the patch (PPF or xdelta) should apply only to that track. Merging all tracks into a single file goes against the standard.

The thing is, all NGCD games have the separate music tracks, you can get any NGCD disc and put it on a CD player and it will play the music tracks (the system itself worked as a CD player too).

I know, pretty much all CD games from that era did that. But nowadays, "proper" dumps convert everything to .bins. They don't include direct music files anymore (the files are there, just in bin format).

It seems like the most expedient approach will be just to include two xdelta patches, one for TOSEC and one for REDUMP.

I just logged in after years of inactivity to show my gratitude for making this project a reality. Been wanting to play this for a long time and really appreciate all the hard work put in. Thank you!

While I wait on updates on ASM hacks, I decided to try dropping the 8x8 font from Samurai Shodown 3 in and replacing the block lettering from the Japanese game. What do you think?

Looks neat. Thematically fitting, too!

Personally i prefer the font of the 1st pic.

Personally, I could go with either font.
