Mega Man X3 - Zero Project (3.0)

28 September 2015 11:51PM EST - Update by justin3009

ROM Hacks News

The newest and ‘hopefully’ final Mega Man X3 - Fully Playable Zero is ready to go! The differences from this version and the other aren’t visible in some areas, but it’s dramatically improved underneath the hood of the game.

For this version expect FAR less bugs, although, there may have been some that slipped by. Zero’s new animations have been greatly altered and he now has a proper victory animation!

The biggest change of all is that this ‘SHOULD’ be compatible with most anything now compared to the old version.

Hopefully everyone who enjoyed the old version can enjoy the newer one!

Pokemon Emerald: National Dex Edition is back!

20 September 2015 3:21AM EST - Update by Chronosplit

ROM Hacks News

After a strange bug, National Dex edition was left all but unplayable. After a rebuild from not-quite-scratch it’s back up and ready to be played. While the process went on, some modifications were made to make gameplay more pleasant in general:

  • Trainers in full were all redone from scratch; the previous intention is still there and the Elite 4/postgame still has the same bite, but certain Leaders are now less overpowered and more as intended (for example, the only altered “ace” of them was Juan for Wallace’s sake). A scant couple of important fights were left alone completely as the hacking really couldn’t do them any better than the original intent, namely the Petalburg Gym trainers (not Norman of course).
  • As by popular demand, the Missing Move Patch is now optional. There are two versions, please read carefully before applying.
  • Also by popular demand, starters are now the original Hoenn Trio. Later on there may be optional patches added that change these to other regions’ starters, but this is now the default.
  • A whole box of bugfixes. Things from Hoenn Dex while National Dex was down, and present bugs that happened to be only in those versions.

As always, if you ever find an unlisted bug or SNAFU feel free to send me a PM. Happy catching!

MOTHER 2 DELUXE 2.0 NOW AVAILABLE!

05 August 2015 7:41PM EST - Update by Messianic

ROM Hacks News

Ever wanted to play a version of EB that wasn’t childishly easy? Where the colors weren’t weird, the translation was more accurate to the Japanese and the game was improved in EVERY way?

GREAT!

Mother 2 Deluxe version 2.0 adds TONS to the game from the VERY old 1.31 version hosted here previously. Just a few new features:

  • Enemies given AI to do way more than just 4 attacks, bosses can even detect status ailments and heal them off or use Lifeup on themselves when low HP!
  • Jeff has his own menu with his special Tools to not clog up his inventory, similar to Duster in Mother 3!
  • Tons of new battle animations added for PSI that never had any, as well as for Jeff’s Tools and a few enemy moves!
  • Your Sanctuary locations Lilliput Steps, Milky Well, Magnet Hill, and Pink Cloud will grow in power the longer you wait to tackle them, keeping at your relative power level!
  • Brand new final dungeon after Gyiyg to tie Mother 2 and 3 together!
  • Many new enemies added to the game for series consistency that were found in both Mother and Mother 3!

And much much more!

Unprecedented Crisis - Version 2

05 August 2015 7:39PM EST - Update by pinkpuff

ROM Hacks News

After a lot of useful feedback from people who played the first version, the new and improved version of the extensive Final Fantasy 4 hack, Unprecedented Crisis, is ready for release.

There are quite a few things fixed and/or improved over version 1. The readme explains them in more detail, but the highlights are:

  • Smoother difficulty curve, particularly the underworld.
  • Fewer damage floors and more ways to avoid them.
  • New commands! Cid gets “Dash” which allows him to ram into an enemy like Umaro from FF6, and Kain gets “Lance” (Lancet) which drains HP.
  • Starting inventory; sort and trash now start at the top.
  • Automatic party size tracking; you can no longer choose to overfill your party and wreck your game.
  • More hints given about where to go and what to do. You should definitely check out Baron’s Training Room and the Agart Inn.
  • Many other minor fixes and improvements.

Stop Beating Yourself Up

19 July 2015 4:03AM EST - Update by Spooniest

ROM Hacks News

Final Fantasy II Rebalanced is a small and simple romhack made using Mr. Lenophis’ utility “Jade” (with some minor work done in WindHex). The primary aim of the project is to ease the player into the game by not cramming the “learn by doing” mechanic down their throat.

This is accomplished in quite a rudimentary fashion, by simply handing the player a basic skill set at the start of the game.

By the time the midgame is underway, the difficulty ramps up, but the endgame was streamlined as well, to make for an overall “smoother” feel to the difficulty curve.

Make no mistake: the game will still game over the player if they do something profoundly stupid, just not as early or as often. For those who enjoy the ability to “pick up and play,” Final Fantasy II Rebalanced offers not a declawed lion, but simply medical insurance for the lion tamer.
