Game Review (by Kitsune Sniper):
This is one of the best freeware games I’ve played. The sentiment is echoed all over the world, as well. Think of the game as Metroid, except you’re not a chick wearing armor but a guy wearing normal clothes. Confused yet?
You play the part of a nameless person who is off in a quest to help out a race of creatures named Mimigas, which are being kidnapped by an evil doctor who… well… you’ll see.
Unlike many other adventure games, Cave Story is heavily story driven. And the game is long. Very, very long. And full of secrets! You’ll have a great time trying to find everything. And trying to unlock the three endings.
The quality of this translation is as good as the game itself. Shih Tzu did the translating, and Gideon did the hacking (with permission from the game’s author) in just under three weeks. The script is very well written and is full of both Gid and Shih Tzu’s quirky humor all over. I think I spotted a Monty Python reference as well!
Note that this patch is not in the usual IPS format but in an executable format. These programs, when run, will patch the game and other files when you tell them where the files are located. These files have no viruses, so do not worry about that.
This latest version updates the patch to work with version 22.214.171.124 of the game. It fixes all glitches in previous patches and addresses untranslated segments as well.
