This PSP edition of FFT brings both good and bad things to the table.
On the plus side Dark Knight and Onion Knight are two new jobs, and this brings in a few new scenes and scenarios that add some characterization and the like. There are also some more tie-ins to other games and a Multiplayer mode. The text is completely relocalized.
On the minus side, the new jobs only get spectacular with items gained from Multiplayer battles, the new localization is done in a love-it-or-hate-it style, and Square-Enix had accidentally introduced terrible slowdown issues.
Some prefer the original PS1 game and some prefer WOTL as most call it. It’s really all up to personal preferences, and FFT is an awesome game either way.
This patch translates the full game into Italian. It includes translated movies, graphics, menus and the main script. It also applies the fix to the slowdowns that plagued this version of the game (credits go to Archaemic).
On the “hacking side”, it adds DTE to the game and extensively uses the game’s native compression, while the original game never used it (however, the code from the PSX version was still present and working).
Note: The patch is too large to be hosted on Romhacking.NET. In order to get it, go to SadNES cITy.
ROM / ISO Information:
- The patch must be applied to a full, uncompressed dump of the EUR ISO of the game. It should work well on an uncompressed USA ISO too, but the authors have not fully tested the patch on this version of the game.
