Game Review - by Deathlike2
Honestly, I want to smack everyone who even dares think of saying that this is simply FF2 in Japanese. Well, they are wrong.
You will find that most of the game is pretty much the same, say 90%, but the differences end there once you reach the moon.
There’s an ample number of weapon changes/tweaks plus a sword you can use in the Magnetic Cave, which also happens to be the same sword that was reintroduced into FF4A. The Ribbon could arguably be overpowered, but the monsters on the moon have had their battle scripts massively tweaked as compensation, if not rewritten, and are sometimes unrecognizable from the original.
Zeromus is simply not that easy, if anything, it is arguably harder than the original.
For those of you who want to see something different, something that kinda resembles a hack with a few bugfixes, this is what you should try out.

Description
I love FFIV, and when I found out there was an unreleased version of it, I decided I would do my best to hack it. This is the first game I’ve worked on where I’ve put tons of ASM mods into it, and it has turned out really well thus far. I plan on releasing at least two, possibly three patches for this. One with the script from FFIV (for FFIV, not Easy Type), one with the DS script (for FFIV), and Easy Type itself.
- Items expanded up to 15 characters each (from 8).
- Item, Equip, and Shop menus altered to accomodate them.
- Magic Menu hacked to allow 7 character spell names (from 5). This allows spell names such as “Blizzard” to fit (but not “Thundara” or other longer names).
- Each of the three pointer tables has been hacked and tested.
- Some of the intro dialogue has been translated and inserted.
- The Main Menu has been hacked (much like the j2e FFIV hack, with some improvements).
- The Status menu has been hacked to fit everything (including some things that j2e missed) – no abbreviations!
- Place name boxes have been hacked, and place names have been inserted.
- Battle menu text has been inserted, but has yet to be hacked to fit full names.
Still to be done:
- Fix the item selection in the item menu.
- Hack the equip menu item selection to match the item menu.
- Battle menus.
- Hack the limitations of the config menu.
- Get the rest of the script translated and inserted (I still need a dedicated translator).
- Either a VWF or hack limitations for text so I don’t need one.
