Hack of Super Metroid

Description:

This is a complete Super Metroid hack, that alone makes it worth playing. It features new maps, layouts, item placements, and enemy placements. The areas in the beginning are similar to the originals, the farther you advance the more it changes. The difficulty is about the same as the original, and the puzzles are decent. There is a minor glitch where parts of the map won’t be displayed when reloading your save.

So I’m a little late when it comes to this hack, but I feel it deserves another recommendation. It starts out very similar to the original, but changes wildly once you get into the meat of the hack. It uses all the same areas you know, but does them different. This is also one of the few hacks that has a very similar difficulty to the original. It won’t make you pull your hair out because you keep dying to way over powered enemies. So besides those good points it also truly has 100% item collection, which is sometimes hard to find in a Super Metroid hack. So you really know how well you did when it comes to collecting your upgrades.

One downside. The map has some issues. It is mentioned that saving your game and reloading from that will cause some problems. Also, there is at least one map error where the map doesn’t line up quite right.

The positives outweigh the negatives by far. This is one of the fun hacks to play, and if you like Super Metroid, you should give Legacy a go around. No other hack I’ve played feels so close to the original when changing the entire layout of the game.

This won’t be the hack that leaves you stunned speechless. It is a pretty early hack for Super Metroid, and as such is a little dated by what you may see around nowadays. But it is one of those hacks I recommend you play, especially if you are just getting in to playing Super Metroid hacks. There are few beginner friendly hacks. This is one of them.
