The good : The color choices in this “DX” hack are overall excellent. Backgrounds do not look garish unlike the palette Nintendo’s built-in firmware gave this game for the GBC. Sprites are faithfully colored to their color versions from later games when known within the GBC’s capabilities.

The bad : Color cycling effects from the monochrome game are lost in this colorization. This means that screen transitions happen abruptly, color flickering on certain objects is now solid and Kirby no longer flickers when he gains the invincibility or fire breath powerups. The failure to incorporate these elements gives the hack a less polished look and feel than it should have and would have had if Nintendo released a DX version of this game.

Conclusion : Recommended with the above reservation, and should that be addressed, this hack would be fully recommended.
