Game Description:
This game which was released in Japanese only, is a tactical spin-off of the popular shoot-em-up franchise R-Type from the late ’80’s/early 2000’s. The gameplay builds upon the first “Tactics” game, R-Type Command, and has greatly improved it with additional features such as:
- unit deployment inside ships/bases
- cooperative/competitive play for 2 people through ad-hoc
- game sharing mode
- new moves, such as “Jamming” and “Capture Bullet”
Translation Description:
The game has been fully translated to English. It works on PSP, PSVita, and through PPSSPP on PC, Android, iPhone). Multiplayer functions only work on PSP/PSVita. This is due to the PPSSPP emulator, not due to the patch.

Phenomenal game
Reviewed By: prince2phore on 26 Feb 2020I had good memories from R-Type command and was curious about the sequel. This translation is flawless and playing this many years after the first one I didn’t mind getting basically a 1.5 version. The gameplay is more solid than ever, it took me 100h to finish all 3 campaigns and I still want to play more to unlock everything. Even the story is not that bad…
If you value tactic and strategy in games like SRW or Fire Emblem, R-Type Tactics 2 does it way better, creating new situation and challenges in every of its 67 unique maps!
IF you like those games for the JRPG aspect and story, this might not be for you though.
Overall an underrated Gem, the first R-Type Command was in fact just a prototype for this which is the final form of the perfect hex tactic game, and portable!
