Mega Man X - Zero Playable

Hack of Mega Man X

Description:

This is a hack for Megaman X that was found in a Youtube video. The greatest feature is that Zero is playable with his hair animation (X3 sprites). The hair animation still can be improved (polished) as well the texts of the game (It uses the original texts).

This hack also show an increased difficulty in Bosses. For example: Spark Mandrill doesn’t freeze, Launch Octopus doesn’t lose his arms. Armored Armadillo is faster and doesn’t lose his armor… Bonus: In the Sigma battle there are 2 Velguarders instead of one.

Finally Zero is Playable!

Reviewed By: pianohombre on 21 Feb 2020

I worked on a hack that changed the palette of X so he looked like Zero, but it wasn’t a full sprite switch because the sprite for Zero is 32×32 pixels and X is 16×16 so you’d have to edit the assembly which is pretty complicated. Since another user on this site was able to swap X and Zero for X2 and X3 it’s nice that this is finally done! I’ll be so happy to check this out and they said they changed the text also to accommodate Zero.
