Hack of The Legend of Zelda

This hack of The Legend of Zelda for the NES had nine months of hacking put into it, also it was made impressively using a Chromebook! if anyone is looking for a great new Zelda experience then this is the hack to download!

This hack features, an entirely brand new overworld made from scratch, completely edited new (HARD) dungeons, challenging puzzles and gameplay, the Auto Map feature ~Thanks to snarfblam~, and ALL NEW completely edited graphics! All bugs have been fixed in this update, unless there are otherwise unknown bugs.

  • V1.1 Bug fixes
  • V1.2 Fixed broken Ips
  • V1.3 Fixed Exploits
  • V1.4 Removed many Blue potions that made the game EASY, and edited some text
  • V1.5 No longer have to buy a key in 2nd quest for Map-6, also edited some of Map-1 in Q2

~Story~ In the peaceful land of Hyrule… Evil had begun to flow out of the hidden sacred realm. It was the evil of Ganon. The evil took the form of a dark mirror, and out of that mirror came the shadow of “The Hero”. Word got to the Princess Zelda that a mirror had appeared out of nowhere, Link’s shadow had come out of it, and that Link’s shadow had taken the mirror with him. Nevertheless Link’s Shadow used the mirror to create powerful shadow crystals that have the power to seal and unseal people and objects. He has placed the crystals in the hidden temples to steal the temple’s power. If the crystals steal enough power from the temple’s, then Link’s shadow can use the power to unseal Ganon! Find the crystals in the hidden temples before it’s too late, and use the crystals power to seal the mirror away! But before that Link must defeat his own shadow!

If anyone has trouble with progressing in the game, go look up the Readme file for hints. The Readme has hints for the dungeon locations

Link's Depression

Reviewed By: ViolentForce on 14 Dec 2019

Spoilers Ahead:

First off I’d like to start with the game not having a sword, It’s OK and I’m fine with that, but having to go through the other side of this map in Lynel territory with no up-graded shield and 3 hearts is not fun, plus it’s not even free! You have to know where secrets are to get money and buy it! Yes, Outlands did some crazy stuff in its 2nd quest without a sword but for a 1st quest this is a no.

My main complaint with this “Hack” is level 3. Getting there I only had 7 hearts, Wooden sword, no potions, and no blue ring. Having to fight blue dark nuts in short spaces and having a Patra for the mini boss, and no less the main boss in small room with snake shooters? Big no, even if I had potions this is too much.

The player shouldn’t have to pay for sword up-grades with the Wooden and White sword, something I don’t approve of, and potions being ridiculous prices too (But later dungeons did have free potions to give). Even if the secret Moblins give you good money, but also too many “pay me for the door repair” old mans even when you just walk into an open secret that was already open.

Couldn’t get the blue ring until after completing a somewhat difficult level 4. But after getting your up-grades levels 5-9 were better. Was generous with bombs being cheap in shops but after levels 3 & 4 I didn’t even want to try and 100% this game (Just missed a couple Heart Containers)

I will give The3Dude credit for a new overworld map and custom level designs Not going to even try the 2nd quest after the first because I was so frustrated with some of the things be pulled in the mid dungeons. I like what he did with “Hyrules Doom” and going to try “Trial of Courage” sometime, But this hack wasn’t for me, and maybe some others liked the challenge, but not the type of Zelda 1 I would recommend.
