StarTropics - No Movement Delay

Hack of StarTropics

Description:

This patch removes the 8 frame delay after changing directions and reduces it to 1 frame. You can still change direction without moving by a quick tap of the direction pad.

The patch only modifies one hex value in the rom. It is a massive improvement over the original game.

You will need an IPS patch installer to patch the rom such as Lunar IPS http://www.romhacking.net/utilities/240/

Note: This rom can also be patched with the music fix hack without issue.

Excellent Patch! Still some left over delay of the old system, though.

First off, this patch is excellent. It makes it much easier to play the game. I must say, however, that there’s still some remants of the old movement delay system still in the code. This issue presents itself when Mike attempts moves into an object or a wall in Dungeon mode. He will get “stuck” for 2 seconds or so before he is able to move again.

That problem aside, I’s still say this is HIGHLY recommended. Makes the game much more enjoyable.

Cheers
