Earthworm Jim 2 PSOne PAL to NTSC

Hack of Earthworm Jim 2

Description:

Conversion of Earthworm Jim 2 for the Playstation from PAL to NTSC. The speed of the game is affected by the change from 50Hz to 60Hz but the same happened to the SNES, Genesis and Saturn versions.

The TitleID was also altered from SLES-00343 to SLUS-00343 which isn’t used by any other game.

Track info shouldn’t have changed but a cue file is included in the patch just in case. As a bonus there is also an edited cover.

CDDA Issues on Emulators

Reviewed By: Pr3tty F1y on 05 Feb 2018

I don’t have any physical hardware to test this on, but I think there is an issue with the CCD image that this patch is based upon. I end up with CDDA issues (e.g., silence with various tracks - different in different emulators) in both ePSXe and Mednafen with both the base image and the patched image.

I was able to remedy this by applying the patch to the CCD image, opening the patched CCD image in ISOBuster, extracting the patched 1st track as RAW/BIN, and then using that RAW/BIN patched track 1 with the REDUMP BIN/CUE ISO of the game (e.g., the one with separate *.bin files for each track and just replacing the original track 1 with my extracted patched track 1).

Still recommended and as with the above ‘fix’ in place, the game runs wonderfully as NTSC.
