Hokuto no Ken

Sega Master System

Game Description:

Hokuto no Ken is a game for the Sega Master System that was completely changed for western markets and retitled “Black Belt”. The game is based on a TV anime called Fist of the North Star (Hokuto no Ken).

Translation Description:

This is an English translation of Hokuto No Ken for the Sega Master System.

At last, the game is now fully playable in English as it always should. You’ll notice this is more challenging than Black Belt and way better than the NES game.

ROM / ISO Information:

  • Be sure to use the real JAPANESE rom (CRC-32: 24f5fe8c), the one that starts with the SEGA MARK III screen. The chinese dump is also labeled as (J), but is a BAD DUMP.

Great translation for Fist of the North Star fans

Reviewed By: chicgamer on 16 Jan 2018

It’s great to finally be able to play this game in English with the Fist of the North Star characters intact (I had Black Belt as a kid and played through it not knowing of the changes made for the Western release). Lately, I’ve been watching the ’80s anime, and it’s great to see how the story was adapted as a video game. I’m really looking forward to the upcoming Hokuto no Ken translation for the Genesis as well (which was released as Last Battle in the West).
