Super Famicom Wars

Super Nintendo

Game Description:

Super Famicom Wars is a turn-based military strategy game developed by Intelligent Systems, published by Nintendo and first released on May 1 1998. It can be regarded as the direct successor to the original Famicom Wars, vastly improving on the original game while retaining its core ideas. The game was made available exclusively via the Nintendo Power re-writable cartridge system, making it one of the hardest Super Famicom titles to obtain today.

During the months prior to its Nintendo Power release several teaser/demo versions of Super Famicom Wars were released on the Satellaview broadcast service, each featuring one map from the full game. Super Famicom Wars have later been re-released on Wii and Wii U as part of the Virtual Console library, again exclusively in Japan.

While most fans will agree that the series made huge improvements with each consecutive game at least up until the first Advance Wars title, Super Famicom Wars does offer a few unique features and enough original flavor to make it stand out as a great game in its own right.

Translation Description:

Almost 20 years after its original Japanese release the immediate ancestor to the beloved turn-based tactics game Advance Wars, Super Famicom Wars, is finally playable in English.

The game has been fully translated and made playable wholly in English. When mining the ROM, some unreachable content has been found, which from the looks it is mostly related to debugging and internal playtesting. Some, but not all, of these things have also been translated.

The patch has been tested on Japanese, European and American SNES/SFC hardware using the SD2SNES and Super Everdrive flash cartridges. It should also work on most emulators, and has been confirmed working via “Canoe” on the SNES Classic Mini.

Version 1.1 of this patch addresses a rare bug in the text renderer. It also includes few corrections and tweaks to text and graphics.

Dream came true

Reviewed By: HTAS on 24 Dec 2017

I love playing Advance Wars and when discovering Super Famicom Wars, I played it non stop. But I feel really nervous when fighting CPUS since I don’t know Japanese, I really can’t tell what the info is telling me and the options to add levels into it. So I search for an English translation, sadly, there was none until December 24, 2017. I have went to this website just to find this translation of a game I wanted for 3 years. This is a real Christmas gift, thank you.
