Secret of Mana Scroll Hack

Hack of Secret of Mana

Description:

Description: Simple patch that shrinks the “deadzone” that the player can freely walk in before the screen scrolls. This allows the screen to scroll sooner, so you aren’t right on top of enemies when they appear on screen. May cause minor graphics issues in areas with wrapping backgrounds.

Use: On a headered “Secret of Mana” ROM. Has been tested on the 1.0 USA ROM and on a USA ROM modified with FuSoYa’s “Secret of Mana Variable Width Font Edition” hack.

ROM / ISO Information:

  • No-Intro Name: Secret of Mana (USA)
  • (No-Intro version 20130701-030720)
  • File SHA-1: FDCAD061029156733328792B838D50995278F748

Excellent Job

Reviewed By: Erockbrox on 08 Oct 2017

I am playing the SNES Secret of Mana for the first time. As soon as I started playing the game I noticed a problem. The scrolling in the original game didn’t allow enough room in front of the character when the character walked around.

I immediately came here to romhacking.net to see if there was a fix for this and to my surprise there was. I want to give a personal thank you to the author of this hack for fixing the scrolling.

Thank you.
