StarTropics - No Movement Delay

Hack of StarTropics

Description:

This patch removes the 8 frame delay after changing directions and reduces it to 1 frame. You can still change direction without moving by a quick tap of the direction pad.

The patch only modifies one hex value in the rom. It is a massive improvement over the original game.

You will need an IPS patch installer to patch the rom such as Lunar IPS http://www.romhacking.net/utilities/240/

Note: This rom can also be patched with the music fix hack without issue.

It's like the controls has been fixed

Reviewed By: madness flame on 24 Feb 2017

For those unfamiliar with the game, you’ll notice that when you’re in a dungeon, there’s a small delay when you start to move in a direction that is different than the one you’re facing. That mean; if you’re going forward and you turn left, you’ll have a delay before you start to move in that new direction.

I have not been able to find from a reliable source if this delay in the movement was really wanted or if it was a mistake by Nintendo. However, one thing is sure, many gamers hate that delay, and it was one of the main complain amongst those who didn’t like the game.

This patch simply remove the movement delay, so your movements feel more comfortable. Hopefully this patch will also bring more gamers to enjoy this game. For those who didn’t like the delay, now with this patch it’s like the controls has been fixed.

What I like about this patch, is the fact it is compatible with the music fix patch.

Thanks for making this patch.
