Sloppy presentation, but well received

This hack is something I have wanted to see for years and I was so excited to download and play one of the first Megaman X hacks that completely changes the game.

This particular hack does well in the graphics department, as each stage comes with custom tilesets that look really nice. In addition, most every stage has new music to accompany it. There are quite a few from Megaman 7 and Megaman and Bass.

When you start to play the game, one common occurrence that will distract you is the roughness of some of the programming or ideas that went into Megaman X Generations. One of the first things you will notice on the intro stage is that X already has the ability to dash. But you don’t actually have the boot upgrade yet. The result is that when you do dash, part of X’s animation is missing, and you will only see his head. This is due to the original designers never having intended the player to dash without the upgrade, so there were no sprites made.

There are quite a few of these little things in the hack where either the author didn’t seem to mind or was unable to fully accommodate the changes made. However I have played this version in its entirety and can confirm that it is 100% playable.

I would have to recommend this hack based on a good amount of effort put into creating this new version to experience.
