Description:
Entry for MetConst Summer Contest “Race to the Finish”
Plot : A flying brain from another dimension is wrecking the galaxy, Samus has decided to put an end to this. She has less than one hour to complete her task otherwise she’ll die from heavy brain damage.
Goal : Defeat 4 main bosses in 4 distinct areas then head to the final area as fast as possible. Each area can be completed in one run and in any order (no need to go back and forth between areas to progress). There’s a bit of exploration thrown in for good measure but for the most part, the main path is quite straightforward (I think?) In case you’re confused, look at the map - all area maps are available from the start. Backtracking is usually needed when you’re exiting an area to go the next one. Most enemies has altered vulnerabilities, health and damage so you should be able to deal with them under-equipped. That includes bosses & zebetites weak to uncharged shots, etc. Yet, as a general rule of thumb, bumping into everything (ie enemies, spikes) isn’t the best way to progress.

Original and surprising
Reviewed By: Hrith on 29 Dec 2016I have to write a review for this ROM hack. It is stupefying. I was not expecting something so good from such a format - by that I mean a time attack run - but it’s breathtaking how original, clever and fun to play this hack is.
I had not had fun playing a Metroid 3 hack in years, and I play every single one I can find here or on sites more dedicated to hacks of the Metroid franchise.
This hack could seem intimating at first, since most areas are not that small, and you have a one-hour timer counting down, but even if you do fail, restarting immediately will allow you to do things differently and beat the countdown.
Because of the very idea behind this ROM hack, it has immense replay value. You should play it five or six times before you have experienced the hack fully, or figured out how to obtain all items within the time limit.
One can tell the hacker (Metaquarius) had a lot of fun with room design, enemy placement and how bosses are fought.
A brilliant idea very well executed. I hope to see more of such hacks in the future.
