Pokémon Trading Card Game 2
Pocket Monsters Trading Card GB 2 - Team Great Rocket Visit!
|Patching Information||No Special Requirements|
|Game Date||28 March 2001|
|Release Date||15 Jun 2012|
|Last Modified||25 September 2013|
From the little I’ve played of this game, it plays exactly like the first Pokemon Trading Card Game. I can only assume that this one has Pokemon from Gold and Silver, and that it wasn’t released here because Pokemon isn’t popular anymore, or something. And people say Pokemon’s only popular in America!
This game is the sequel to Pokémon TCG on GBC that, for reasons unknown, never made it overseas. A few attempts have been made to translate it in the past, but all died out after a while. Now, however, you can play the game fully translated into English!
This game builds upon its predecessor by quite a lot, implementing better color functionality, a couple new series of cards, and another whole island to visit with plenty of dangerous new opponents to play against.

I put this off for a long time because I saw that this patch was made without any actual Japanese language experience. I thought, surely the quality isn’t very high, right?
But I finally got around to playing through it and boy, I was VERY wrong. The writing job on this patch is simply superb. I haven’t noticed a single typo and the dialog is all written very professionally. Small features, like extra tutorial material, is complete and coherent. All the names are localized. Even random NPCs are well-written and have personality. It feels like an official release!
The gameplay and amount of content exceeds the original by quite a bit (due to an entire second island with side areas like a casino and duels with special rules), so if you enjoyed the first game this is a definite must-play. Seriously, just do it.
